Today we’d like to introduce you to Tiara Harrison.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My name is Tiara Harrison and I’m known as “Black Foodie T” on Instagram. I would say what influenced me the most, was my mother and my friends. My mother would always take me to different restaurants throughout Cleveland. Also, while attending Cleveland State my friends and I would try many restaurants in the Cleveland area. I have a passion for photography and decided on making an Instagram where I could broadcast my photography skills and my love of food while trying restaurants throughout Cleveland. Since we’re in the social media age people want to see other people’s experiences or even lives through a photo. I show my love of food using my camera. I’m an extremely visual person so, when I post my photo of my meals you see the quality of the food. I want to always make sure my post makes a person want to go ahead and try this particular restaurant ASAP. I’m just sharing my story and my love of food through photos, and I hope people enjoy that from me because I enjoy sharing my photos with the world.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Creating this page hasn’t been as smooth as I thought it would be. I will say what I struggle with the most is being consistent with my work and being more interactive. It can be a challenge because I do Black Foodie T for fun and it’s a hobby for me. It can be hard balancing the page while maintaining a job and going back to school.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I find it special to be creative because I’m able to express myself by putting out my own work. Black Foodie T, is my Instagram page, where I capture moments of desirable food in Cleveland, OH. I take my community on a journey with me by trying out restaurants in the city. What sets me apart from other people will be, that I will say, that my community is getting quality photos. I take my time when it comes to posting my work because I want to make sure it makes the person that’s clicking on my page to immediately crave that plate of food. What I’m most proud of is creating this page. I’m not just focusing on restaurants I’m including more personal moments in my life. I hope people feel more connected with me when I make my post
What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
The most important lesson I learned with this page is to have fun and don’t put too much pressure on myself. In the beginning, I only included just Cleveland based restaurants but now I’m including more content where it’s not just Cleveland based. I’m including different restaurants that I’ve visited while on vacation. I started to show more personal moments in my life where I share some of my baking skills and showing to my community (followers) my favorite Trader Joe’s findings. I treat my community like they’re my family and friends. I want them to know that I appreciate the feedback and if there is a place that they want me to try I will always take that into consideration.
