Today we’d like to introduce you to SharDay Smith.
Hi SharDay, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
From a very young age, I have always loved anything that allowed me to dream, plan, and create. Watching an idea or design on paper become something tangible truly makes me happy. Once I graduated college and landed my first job as a civil engineer, I found that there was a void in my life. Working as an engineer for a government agency, there is no room for imagination or creativity. Decisions are governed by policy and specifications. It’s very black and white. I quickly realized that I desired and truly needed a creative outlet to feel fulfilled in my life.
I have tried many avenues that have allowed me to create from painting, drawing, sewing, nail art, jewelry making to my newfound passion of balloon artistry. The concept of balloon artistry kind of fell into my lap. My sister owns an event planning & interior design company and needed balloon décor for an event. I would do anything for my big sister. So, I pulled up YouTube, and I learned how to make my first balloon garland! After an only a few events, I had completely fallen in love! The rest is history! HER Balloons was born!
Creating balloon décor has not only allowed me to express myself artistically, but it has also allowed me to create memorable experiences for others for their special occasions! It’s a win, win!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
This journey has not been a smooth one to say the least. It has been very challenging, but it has been also very rewarding and fulfilling. It has taken me a while to find my lane. After multiple failed events, financial losses, missed opportunities, and self-doubt. I have been able to find what works best for me. I believe if you learn from losses, they are no longer losses; they become wins.

I am the balloon artist behind Her Balloons. Her Balloons specialize in luxury balloon décor for all occasions, including weddings, showers, anniversaries, birthdays, grand openings, etc. Creating extraordinary balloon displays and bold focal pieces will capture anyone’s attention who enters the room.
I am most proud of how my version of art makes others feel when they see their balloon display for the first time. It is so rewarding to be able to sometimes turn the smallest, most underwhelming space into a grandiose display of art. And all out of balloons!
What are your plans for the future?
I am looking forward to teaching balloon artistry in the future! There are a lot of balloon enthusiasts who want to get started in this business but just don’t know where to start. Just as I was when I began creating balloons displays. I want to be of service to those individuals as well.
