Conversations with Samantha Walker

Today we’d like to introduce you to Samantha Walker.

Hi samantha, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I began my career in media and entertainment at a very early age. I was 4 the first time I stepped on a runway as a model and never looked back. I modeled in local fashion shows as well as traveled throughout the country modeling for fashion designers and boutiques until around 2018. I shifted my focus from fashion on the runway to commentary and becoming a full flegged mc and host. I have been hosting Cleveland Fashion events and galas for 10 years now. Under my brand (formerly Curvy Confident), I built my clientelle and now I’m revamping (again) to just Sam Walks. I have hosted at least 50 fashion shows that I can count. Over the years I have stepped into live tv, red carpet interviews, on air podcasting, and always bringing my flair for fashion and fun to every event. This year marks 10 years and the end of my fashion career in the city of Cleveland. I wanted to end where I started as i prepare for new chaallenges. My goal is to continue to build my platform and expand to larger stages and perhaps even TV. As I create new memories and expand I’ll always be grateful to the Cleveland fashion community to who got me this far. Cleveland! This is for you !

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
There’s no such thing as a smooth road when youre trying to accomplish greatness ! I battled many giants throughout my journey but my toughest opponent was looking at me in the mirror. For years my inner voice was filled with doubt and fear. As I began to search for my faith and building my relationship with God, I became more comfortable with my gifts and things have been up ever since. Nothing is perfect and honeslty, that would be boring. Overcoming myself and self sabator was the biggest hurdle and its my greatest accomplishment thus far.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I do a little bit of everything honestly. Currently I have been focused on marketing strategy and supporting others who are stepping into entreprenuership. I studied Communications and Journalism and I have always wanted to explore those avenues a little deeper. I love helping someone create a story/vision for their brand and bringing ideas to life. As I am preparing to exit the fashion world, I have more time for some of my passion projects such as more on air apperances, consulting for media arts, webinars for public speaking, and rewriting my first book. I dropped my 1st book The Engagement Specialist in 2024. It wa one of those things i just had to do, and I did. Now, that I’ve had time to leanr more, understand the business aspect better, I think i can write something much better. I think what makes me different from anyone else that does what I do is the raw passion and energy. I don’t always have the answers, I make alot of mistakes and that humanizes me to my audience. They know I mis speak, say the wrong things and that’s just Sam. I never try to convey a perfect Hollywood lifestyle and living the socail media lifestyle. I am real, and raw on/off camera. I am beginning to love writing commercials and story boards for various projects. My imaginaton and creative brain are really dope and more people shoud tap in with me.I’m most proud of just being me, walking into any venue, and hosting whether it be red carpet, a radio interview I’m showing up as myself.

Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
The crazy thing about mentors is, they were all around me and I never put the title “mentor” on any of them. I have many mentors some I’ve had since middle school, some I just met a few years ago. They are all dynamic and knowledgable individuals who have inspired me in some shape or form. Networking is a crucial element to being successful. I can tell you all now, I got to where I am by meeting new people, in new places and it was uncmomfortable. I’m still socially akward sometimes but I always keep the goal in clear view, network=networth. Hanging with people you know and are comfortable with will keep you there, comfortable. What’s worked best for me has been creating a strong online presence so that people will want to engage with me, want to know more about who I am. Thats really it, I’m just me, nothing more. I love when I meet followers and they say youre exactly how you are online. Thats it, create the trust so people will want to network with you in the future.
