Today we’d like to introduce you to Rob Ward

Hi Rob, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
As a former athlete, I had to fill the void left when I stopped playing sports. I was known as a class clown, and a high school classmate convinced me to try comedy at a local poetry night. The rest is history. I’ve reached where I am today thanks to the love and support of my family, especially my wife and kids, my friends, and by staying consistent over the years and making many sacrifices.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No, it has not been a smooth road, to say the least. Pursuing a career in entertainment or following your dreams often involves facing self-doubt, rejection, and sometimes a string of bad luck. The key is to quickly shake off setbacks, forget the past, and keep moving forward. You have to believe that you, both as a person and an artist, are unique and were put on this earth for a reason. Just go for it!

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a comedian and have been performing for 15 years. I have a dry comedy special that focuses on clean comedy. I have appeared on Comedy Central and Kevin Hart’s “Hart of the City” TV show. I’ve also opened for Martin Lawrence and performed on SiriusXM radio. However, I am most proud of winning Showtime at the Apollo earlier in my career.

What sets me apart from other comedians is that I treat comedy like a job and approach it with professionalism. I even teach a comedy etiquette class, guiding younger comics on the business and etiquette of comedy because it truly is a business.

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
The most important lesson I’ve learned on my journey is the importance of self-care, both mentally and physically. Pursuing a dream can be incredibly demanding, and it’s easy to get caught up in the hustle without realizing the toll it takes on your well-being. I’ve found that taking time for myself, eating properly, and staying active are essential in managing stress. With the constant pressure of daily life and trying to keep up with social media and peers, focusing on my own health and growth has been crucial. Additionally, supporting others and wishing them success has also been a valuable part of this journey.
