Today we’d like to introduce you to Raquel Wright
Hi Raquel, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
The multifaceted girl from Cleveland—doing all the things that make her happy! That’s how I want to be known and remembered. At the beginning and end of each day, I simply choose what makes me laugh, smile, or allows me to feel.
I’m a model (editorial, runway, high fashion), an artist (abstract painter), and a wellness instructor (yoga, meditation, reiki, sound).
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
My biggest challenge has always been my mind. Believing in yourself is harder than it sounds. People say it all the time, but rarely explain how to do it. I finally realized that not believing in myself was getting me nowhere, and from that moment, things became easier. I have nothing to lose by trying and trusting that I can do it. Now, if I can just silence those moments of doubt—I’ll be unstoppable!
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am an artist—an abstract painter and a lover of everything within and around me. Abstract art is my specialty, and I fell in love with it because it mirrors my nature—beautifully unstructured, like organized chaos. It gives me the freedom to let go of control, to release unexpressed emotions, and to communicate what words sometimes cannot. I love that each viewer brings their own perception and feelings, making every piece a unique experience.
What sets me apart is the way I see the world—as art. To me, anything can be a tool for creation, not just brushes.
Right now, I’m most proud of finally taking the leap to host my own art show—huge thanks to Qua Wine Shop for the feature. I was also recently featured in ILTHYS’ Artists Who Run the Streets show. And beyond my art, I’m celebrating another milestone: completing my yoga certification and being hired to teach yoga and meditation at the YMCA.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
I believe we will see more abstract. I’ll be teaching more free spirited art techniques. I think more and more people will continue to learn about different art styles and start to buy from their friends or local artist a lot more as the appreciation grows
