Conversations with Olive Frank

Today we’d like to introduce you to Olive Frank.

Hi Olive, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My name is Olive Frank, and I’m the owner of Magia Mundi, which means “Magic of the World” in Latin! I’ve always been fascinated by nature and the beauty it holds. I truly believe that crystals and the natural world carry energy—energy we can tap into to connect more deeply with our spiritual selves. That belief guides everything I do, from creating handmade crystal jewelry to intentionally sourcing my materials. I prioritize working with other small businesses, especially those that share my love for nature and ethical practices.

My journey truly began during the year I lived in Hawaii. That chapter of my life brought about a massive transformation—what I’d call a spiritual awakening. I knew then that I wanted a career where I could help others and spread love through my work. The connection I felt with nature in Hawaii was indescribable, and even though I tried (and failed) to launch a few businesses, I now realize those experiences were part of the process. One of the biggest lessons I learned was patience.

I used to think that as soon as I had an idea, I had to act on it immediately—or risk it slipping away. I thought if I didn’t move fast, the trend or the passion would die. I was very wrong.

After moving back to Ohio, I eventually settled into a traditional 9-to-5 job. It paid well and offered stability, and for the first time, I felt financially comfortable. But I wasn’t happy. Not long after I started, my Mamaw passed away. She was such a light in my life—so kind, so creative. She especially loved making jewelry. When she passed, all of her jewelry-making supplies were given to me. In a way, it felt like a sign form her saying “you’re ready to start your journey, let me help you.”

That’s when everything started to shift. I found myself creating just for fun and realized how much I loved it. It was an outlet for self-expression, a creative release. As I kept going, something clicked: this could be the start of something real. I brainstormed a name, filed for an LLC, and launched a website and social media—no pressure, just a passion project that brought me joy and gave me a break from the grind of my 9-to-5. In many ways, I felt like my Mamaw was guiding me, well, I knew she was.

From there, I took a leap and applied for vendor events—honestly, I was shocked when I got accepted (because I had no experience and felt like I didn’t even know what I was doing)! I stocked up on my first batch of crystals, sourced items from other small businesses, and showed up to my first event. I did way better than expected. But the best part wasn’t the sales—it was connecting with people. So many shared their own spiritual journeys with me. That sense of connection reminded me that there’s so much good in the world, even when social media and all the noise online can make it hard to see.

Magia Mundi has become a release for me—a space where the deepest parts of myself can come through. And through it, I’ve been able to create a space where others can feel seen, safe, and spiritually supported too.

In 2024, I started small—just 7 events that year. But in 2025, I’ve grown to over 128 events and counting. That kind of growth has been wild, and I’m beyond grateful. Every event is a chance to meet new souls, share stories, and build something meaningful together.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Definitely not! I tried and failed many times to start a business. Looking back, I think my head just wasn’t in the right place at first. I was coming from a place of desperation—feeling like I needed to make more money, rather than creating from a place of passion and gratitude. That mindset shift changed everything for me. When I finally started approaching my business with joy, creativity, and trust in the process, things began to align more naturally.

That’s not to say there haven’t been struggles—because there definitely have! The financial side of things can still be stressful, and taxes? SO confusing. But I’ve learned to ask for help and lean on the support of others when I need it. That’s been huge for me.

Overall, gratitude and mindset have played a massive role in keeping me grounded. When I focus on what I do have, instead of what I lack, everything feels lighter. That doesn’t mean it’s easy—but it is worth it. Every challenge has taught me something valuable, and I wouldn’t trade the growth for anything.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
At Magia Mundi, I create and curate a space that blends intention, beauty, and spiritual connection. I specialize in unique, handmade crystal jewelry—each piece is thoughtfully designed to carry meaning and energy. I also handpick crystal pieces that are energetically vibrant, visually stunning, and ethically sourced. Beyond jewelry and crystals, I stock intentionally chosen items from other small businesses, helping amplify their work and build a supportive network rooted in mutual growth.

One of the things I’m most proud of is how much love and care I pour into every detail—whether it’s a pair of earrings, a crystal, or even the packaging. But even more than that, I’m proud of the community that’s formed around Magia Mundi. I believe deeply in community over competition. Along the way, I’ve crossed paths with many others who run businesses similar to mine. And you know what? That’s a beautiful thing. A wave lifts all ships—we all bring something different to the table. Your personality, your energy, your story… those are what make your business unique, and I try to remind others (and myself) of that often.

What sets me apart isn’t just the products—it’s the energy behind them. I create from a place of intention and gratitude, and I love connecting with people in a real way, whether it’s at events or online. I truly care about supporting others, and I think that love shows through in my work. Magia Mundi isn’t just a business—it’s a community, a vibe, and a little bit of magic in the everyday.

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
Yes! My biggest piece of advice is this: even if someone else is selling something similar to you, you are what makes your business unique. There is room for everyone when you’re creating from a place of passion and love. Your energy, your story, and your presence are things no one else can replicate—and that’s powerful. Focus on yourself and the positivity you can bring, instead of comparison!

I used to worry that the market was too saturated or that I had nothing new to offer. But that couldn’t be further from the truth. Every business brings something special to the table, and community truly matters more than competition. There’s space for us all to grow and succeed together.

I also wish I had known just how many opportunities are out there. Events are everywhere—local markets, pop-ups, fairs—and they’re constantly looking for fresh faces. Don’t be afraid to apply, even if you’re just starting. And don’t wait for things to be “perfect” before putting yourself out there. Growth comes from doing, learning, and adjusting along the way.

Most importantly: stay rooted in your why. If you’re building something from the heart, people will feel it.
