Hi Monique, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey has been shaped by passion, resilience, and a deep desire to grow. I started out shy, quiet, and reserved, struggling with self-love and self-esteem issues that allowed me to fade into the background. My life revolved around children, work, home, and the occasional time for friends and family. I didn’t have a strong desire to explore, nor did I think I had a passion.
But over time, I discovered my love for hair—more specifically, wigs—which led me to content creation. And yes, at my age! It’s been an unexpected but fulfilling journey, and through it, my personality is finally flourishing.
Over the past few years, I have faced challenges that tested me and my faith. The tragic loss of my middle son and countless obstacles could have broken me, but with the support of friends, family, and my unwavering faith, I have continued to push forward. Prayer and perseverance have strengthened my determination and sharpened my skills, allowing me to keep evolving.
Today, I can look in the mirror—or the camera—smile, laugh, teach, talk, and uplift everyone I come in contact with. I’m proud of how far I’ve come and excited about where I’m headed. My journey is still being written, and I’m always looking for new ways to share, grow, inspire, and make an impact.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No, it hasn’t been a smooth road. Since COVID, it’s been one hardship after another, including the tragic loss of my son and countless other challenges. Losing loved ones really puts things into perspective. His memory gives me the strength and courage to keep moving forward, even on days when I feel like quitting.
It’s hard to look into the camera and not feel whole, but I push through, smile, and try to brighten someone else’s day. Putting on beautiful hair and makeup makes me feel beautiful and empowered, as if my outside finally matches my insides. I carry his spirit with me, and that keeps me going, even when the road feels tough.

As a Supervisor, I’m passionate about supporting both the public and my team. Within a year of starting, I was promoted, which reflects my determination and drive. What sets me apart is my focus on fostering a positive environment, no matter what kind of day I’m having. I always strive to pass along positive energy, and I’m proud of the growth I’ve achieved—both personally and professionally. My work is about helping others succeed and showing that with dedication, anything is possible.
Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
It’s never too late to start something new, no matter where you are in life. If you’d told me a few years ago that I’d be sitting in front of a camera, applying makeup, styling wigs, and influencing products, I would’ve laughed. I’m a grandmother, for goodness’ sake! But if I can do it, I promise you, anyone can.
We all face moments when we want to give up, when the road ahead seems too uncertain or the dream too distant. But I’m here to tell you: It’s never too late to step outside the box and pursue a dream you never even thought was possible. You’re capable of more than you think, and you deserve to see your dreams come true.
I’m a proud South Side Cleveland woman, and now I’m known as Auntie Nique, the Wig Guru. Never in a million years did I imagine I’d be here—doing what I love, working with some of the biggest wig companies in the world, and building something meaningful. Along the way, I’ve been able to inspire others to take that leap, too.
