Today we’d like to introduce you to Meg Obenauf.
Hi Meg, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I️ believe, truthfully, that I️ began this journey before I️ can remember. I️ loved to draw on napkins at restaurants, I️ always had a sort of unique vision and style, and I️ have always, always, appreciated all kinds of art. I️ have remained loyal to my heart- I️ do not tend to follow the crowd but create my own version of how things should be (for me, at least!) I️ love people, and inspiring others to be themselves and see the creative products that follow! I️ grew up with my (now) husband, Brian, and after high school, we lost touch for about 20 years. Last year, we reconnected, and he was moving back to Ohio. Long story short, when he got back into town to go to dinner and catch up, I️ opened the door, it was as if no time had passed. We got married two months later at the courthouse. He took an interest in my “doodles” and notebooks containing my long-time ideas of creating Mousina Art. His belief in me gave me the missing link of confidence to go for it, and amazing things have happened- it has been the best year of my life thus far! After all, You Only Live Twice!
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
A smooth road is a boring road! That being said, every obstacle has been a wanted challenge. Having a partner by your side who gives you that key reassurance at the end of each day is especially helpful! My biggest struggle was confidence and having faith in myself. Seeing what I️ am capable of and bringing joy to others has been so rewarding. The struggle to put dreams into reality is a real one, always being myself and happy with who I️ am at the end of the day keeps me going.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I️ am so proud to be working under the name Mousina– it was a nickname given to me by my dad when I️ was very young. He would ask if there was “A Mouse in the house?” and then it morphed into Mousina. My dad has always been supportive of me and my ideas regardless of where they are on the fun/crazy/impulsive spectrum. EVERY item that I️ produce comes from a little fire inside that has heart and meaning. The artists that I️ support and have brought on to my team are very dear friends of mine. I️ think good energy attracts good energy, and I️ am so proud to be doing what I️ love the most. Art is more powerful than people realize- it is a gift to be able to freely create and share the love . I️ am proud to have also created a platform for others to come out of their shells and tap into their brilliant creativity!
How do you define success?
SUCCESS: At the end of the day, is knowing that you have done something to make a positive change and had a little bit of fun while doing it! SUCCESS is being true to yourself.
