Conversations with Liam Brock

Today we’d like to introduce you to Liam Brock.

Hi Liam, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I started out playing drums in a barn on the outskirts of a small city in Ohio. A few years into that journey, I traded with a buddy for an old mac with logic pro installed. From there I began experimenting with producing, songwriting, and the rest of the music making process. Currently, Im recording and mixing my owns songs completely independently.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Creating music is challenging in a lot of different ways. A big one for me was trusting myself. There definitely is a learning curve to truly believing in your own taste and decisions. It takes time to trust your gut in that way, especially when you’re creating by yourself.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I write a lot of indie rock/alternative songs. Bands like Cage The Elephant, Twin Peaks and Pinegrove have inspired me greatly during the process. Each step of the writing to releasing process I do myself. I believe that allows me to really hone in on what I want the final product to feel like. Over the past year, I recorded an EP that feels like a sound I’ve been chasing for awhile. It’s turned into something Im very proud to call my own.

How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
I would love to play as many shows with as many different artists as I can. Bringing people together in a live setting is my favorite way to grow and collaborate in the music space.
Apart from that, Songwriting with new people is always a very valuable experience.
