Conversations with Kaley Tocco

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kaley Tocco.

Hi Kaley, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
The School of Sacred Softness was born on a road trip to a special crystal bulk sale store. Lauren and I had recently begun spending time together after meeting at a retreat I hosted. On the way down to the crystal store we began chatting about our hopes and dreams for our yoga careers – sharing we both wanted to share our passion of yin (Lauren) and restorative (me). At this point in our careers we had been teaching for a while and we both wished to elevate from instructor to teacher. Over a waffle charcuterie board, we decided to combine our trainings and create a unique 200 hour yoga teacher training program.
From that moment, we began working diligently and within a year we had written our full manual and sold out our first cycle of the training!

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
In comparison to other roads I’ve been on with collaborative projects, this road has been extremely smooth. Everything Lauren and I have done together has just worked out so organically. We both hold the same values and views on work ethic and collaboration and we support each other well – it makes it a breath of fresh air when it comes to working together. Everything we offer is from our hearts and we strive to keep each other accountable.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
The School of Sacred Softness was created primarily as a yoga teacher training school focusing on the softer side of a yoga practice. The five pillars of our training include yin yoga, restorative yoga, pranayama (breathwork), meditation, and sound healing. Outside of our teacher training program we offer workshops and day experiences that also share one or more of the five pillars as an experience for any student. In all, we are known for promoting practices that aren’t as well known in the community – offerings that regulate the nervous system.

The teacher training program is something we are extremely proud of. We built it from scratch and put our hearts and souls into it. Every page of the manual was created by us. We really wanted to bring ourselves and what we love so much about these practices into this program and we really feel it translated well.

Our program is like nothing else presented in the community right now. Most 200 hour trainings are based in hatha (vinyasa) style teachings and other trainings focus primarily on pranayama or sound healing. We wanted to show people how to truly take care of their nervous systems with these practices and give everyone a chance to really slow down and just BE. Our training brings all the softer sides of a practice into 200 hours in an immersion style format focused heavily on philosophy – we meet once a week and one weekend a month for 6 months.

So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
Right now we are just looking for support in getting the word out about our training and offerings. We’re really focused on making the training amazing so a lot of our income goes to support that – we do social media and the website ourselves. Any support in sharing is so deeply appreciated.

We also love to collaborate and are open to any great opportunities to do so. We aim to create a safe environment for others to experience rest and ease.
