Hi Jennifer, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Five years ago, I moved to Ohio and pursued my passion for esthetics at the Spa School in Columbus. My journey into the world of esthetics began four years ago when I started a waxing job at a small business. There, I quickly honed my skills, mastering Brazilian waxes in just 15 minutes. This experience sparked my interest in skincare, leading me to offer vajacials to improve the skin under the hair.

Before discovering my passion for esthetics, I tried nursing school, which made me realize my love for caring for people. Eager to expand my expertise, I began providing facial services and lash lifts 1.5 years ago. I love the science and functionality behind skincare, continually striving to achieve the best results for my clients.

With a growing passion and dedication, I decided it was time to start my own business. Thus, Perez Esthetics was born, where I now offer a wide range of services aimed at enhancing my clients’ natural beauty and confidence.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I faced several financial and personal challenges during this period. A car accident occurred just as I was preparing to launch my own business, which delayed my timeline and required me to continue working at the small business where I had been employed for four years. During this time, I began offering facials and eyelash services at this business. However, due to the low commission rates, rather than generating income, I was actually incurring losses.

Additionally, I decided to withdraw from Nursing School to conserve funds and focus on my entrepreneurial aspirations. I discovered new interests and chose to advance my education in the field of esthetics. I began researching the products I wanted to incorporate into my services and started offering treatments to models. Despite the difficulties I encountered, I am grateful for these experiences as they have clarified and reinforced my primary goal.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
At Perez Esthetics, I specialize in a wide range of skincare and beauty services designed to help clients look and feel their best. Our offerings include deep pore facials, dermaplane facials, anti-aging facials, teen facials, men’s facials, and the innovative BioRePeel. Additionally, we provide lash lifts, brow shaping, and hard wax hair removal services, such as Brazilian waxing, leg waxing, full body waxing, and full face waxing. We also offer specialized treatments including back facials and vajacials (intimate skin facials).

As a Latina licensed esthetician, I am committed to delivering personalized and professional care tailored to each client’s unique skincare needs. I am fluent in both Spanish and English and am particularly proud of my efficient Brazilian waxing services, which I can complete in under 15 minutes, depending on factors such as hair density and previous waxing history.

What sets me apart is my knowledge of skincare and my dedication to building lasting relationships with my clients. I take the time to understand their long-term goals and provide customized skincare regimens for at-home care. Additionally, I offer extractions and hydrojelly masks as needed to enhance their waxing experience. My aim is to provide a rejuvenating and confidence-boosting experience for each client.

We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
The Covid-19 crisis has taught me the importance of health and safety, mental health awareness, spending time with loved ones, and maintaining a work-life balance. As an esthetician, it is crucial for me to properly sanitize and disinfect tools, equipment, and the workplace to prevent the spread of infections and diseases. Ensuring that all surfaces and tools are thoroughly cleaned between clients helps protect them from potential infections or skin issues. I also need to maintain my own health to effectively care for my clients.

The pandemic brought increased attention to mental health, which impacts both my well-being and the experience I provide to clients. Being aware of mental health issues enables me to approach clients with empathy and create a safe environment. During the pandemic, I lost my grandfather to Covid-19, which made me realize the importance of cherishing time with loved ones because you never know what tomorrow might bring. Spending time at home during the pandemic highlighted the significance of a balanced life. Regular breaks, physical health, and mental well-being are essential for maintaining this balance. Taking regular breaks helps me recharge and provide the best services to my clients. Additionally, staying physically active and working out in the morning helps me release stress and feel energized for the day.
