Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicole Shrestha.
Hi Nicole, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
My name is Nicole Shrestha. I am the founder and owner of Little Lotus that’s located in Clintonville. I am a Reiki Master and Teacher for both humans as well as animal healing. I am a highly sensitive empath, Animal Communicator, and certified in 7 other healing modalities. I encourage my clients to be empowered in their life and develop a routine that brings that sense of peace, relaxation, self-love, and connection they experience in my studio into their everyday lives.
My Animal Reiki sessions have been published on several occasions and I have worked with everything from pets at home to exotics and farm animals. I also take part in offering myself to organizations like wounded warrior and The Ronald McDonald house. I also spend a week every year with the SOAP organization where I offer Reiki and other healing for sex trafficking survivors.
I really believe that we can choose to experience and find happiness and peace in our lives no matter what may be going on around us or what has happened to us in the past.
I grew up in Ohio but resided in Ithaca New York for a short while as a morning show host. I grew up always being able to connect to anything art-related, nature and animals. I connected to my spirituality from an early age and living where it gave me the ability to dive into mediation while sitting in nature helped immensely with that development. I am a proud Buddhist and have been for almost 20 years. I received my bachelor’s in communications /Media Studies and work as the Media Director for The School Employee Retirees of Ohio. I am also currently sitting as a councilwoman for the Village of Minerva Park.
Healing and helping others has always been a big part of my life and I have for the majority of it felt like I have a mission serving heart towards helping the world just be a little bit better in any way. I would never imagine that Little Lotus would grow into where it is now and that I would get to work with so many amazing people and animals every day. In a world that can appear so chaotic in times, I think it’s of great importance to embrace ourselves and each other and grow together. Little Lotus has helped me learn so much about the world around me and in return myself. Healing from trauma in today’s world is more important than ever now and I hope to be able to do that for as many people and animals as possible.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Not at all. Growing up in school was horrible for the most part… I had a creative mind and didn’t necessarily fit in always. Studying and good grades were not achieved as easy as it was for some others. Not only was school hard but I was growing up as an empath in a tough society. I had my daughter at an early age of 19 and was a single mother after my divorce when she was 2. I battled many demons stemming from my own trauma during this time. My trauma and my own self-healing from these things has helped me to connect to so many others.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Reiki is an energy healing technique in which a Reiki master (who has undergone formal training in this healing art) uses gentle hand movements with the intention to guide the flow of healthy energy (what’s known in Reiki as “life force energy”) through the client’s body to reduce stress and promote healing. In a world with so many things affecting our health and wellbeing it’s important we know our bodies can heal themselves from many things most importantly overcoming trauma. I am certified in 7 different healing modalities and I pride myself on compassionately raw and honest healing.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
My drive and ability to genuinely connect to others. My clients get the genuine me and it allows us to share our stories and our triumphs. You don’t walk into the studio and get a fake seller approach. I think genuinely connecting to those around us is very important but I think that is easily showcased if you love what you do.
