Today we’d like to introduce you to Fynn Rolston
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My name is Fynn Rolston and I was born in Vancouver, British Columbia on April 17, 2007. My mum had me whilst attending the University of British Columbia for her masters, and my dad too for his Doctorate. I was only two when I moved for the first time, to Ithaca, New York after my mum decided to pursue a PhD at Cornell. With that being said, my family moved continuously for the majority of my childhood after that. Vancouver, Ithaca, Huddersfield (England), and Morgantown West Virginia. Though moving so frequently between the ages of 2-9 was extremely difficult, I like to credit it for a lot of who I am today. It has truly taught me so much and changed my view on culture, people, and life as a whole. Now I am currently in my final months at Morgantown High School and have committed to Toronto Metropolitan University for a major in Fashion Design at their “Creative School” which is one of the top fashion programs in Canada. I am also in the works of building up my career as a Male Model after signing with Docherty Agency back in January (2025) and have since been booking consistent work in the fashion industry. I hope to continue this growth and sign to multiple other agencies, along with building my skills in fashion design to one day start my own designer fashion line.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
There have definitely been some bumps along the way. As I previously stated, moving around so frequently between countries when I was younger definitely took a toll on me, however for the most part I have been able to push through anything that would stand in the way of me achieving my goals.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I started using art and creation to channel my emotions after first moving to Ithaca when I was two. I never knew how to put my feelings into words, and turning them into creations was always easier. My mum used to call them my “dragons” and I would use my dragons to draw, paint, and create. Since then I continued artistry, drawing and painting all the time just kept me in the right headspace. I knew I could go somewhere with it when in grade 7 I had a piece of art displayed in the Morgantown Art Museum for a show, downtown. The following year I started a clothing brand as I had started peaking more of an interest in fashion than ever before. The only issue with that was I had no clue how much it would cost me. So to fund this, I started doing paintings of shoes and selling them to a sneaker shop downtown, getting $75 per canvas. Eventually, I had a consistent stream of customers from around town who had seen my work requesting custom pieces for commission. Then as of more recently I taught myself how to sew, furthering my interest in fashion. Last September was my first big project, making my homecoming suit. I had never made a complete outfit before, but I’ve always been confident in my abilities. Heavily inspired by the suit designed my Peter Do and worn by Joe Burrow at Paris Fashion Week, I sewed a full suit with wide flowing trousers and a cropped double breasted blazer with a belted open back.
Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
Keep on going. The only thing that will take you places is consistency in your passion. It doesn’t matter the path you take if you pursue it hard enough. With the right time and effort, it will happen.
