Conversations with Emani Bell

Today we’d like to introduce you to Emani Bell.

Hi Emani, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started during COVID. Before starting my brand Everything Hip Hop Daily, I was doing internships at other entertainment companies such as HotNewHipHop, TreMedia Public Relations & Marketing, HOT 97, etc. When COVID came into play and shut everything down, there wasn’t much to do in effort to do something that’ll help me achieve my goals in the industry. After having multiple long conversations with my uncle and my aunt, I was inspired to start my blog, making sure I was doing something that’ll help me achieve my goal. Writing reviews on music and stories in entertainment, in general, was my starting point. It wasn’t long after that I started doing interviews

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. In the beginning, I was a one-woman show. I was looking up stories to write, created social media content, reached out to publicists for the interviews, conduct marketing for when my interviews released, and so much more. It was a lot for me to handle by myself. I was also looking for ways to continue to improve all while trying to make sure I’m being consistent. At the time, I was also in school, so it was a challenge to balance both at the same time. Moving to online made it a bit easier, but of course, there were naturally still challenges. Another challenge would be getting certain artists for an interview as a growing brand.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I specialize more in writing and interviews. I am proud of the businesses I’ve managed to work at, but I am most proud of my own publication. To be my age and to have gotten to interview some hot artists in my industry all on my own, is definitely not something many can say. I’m definitely most proud of that. I’d say I am set apart from others by trying to provide a more positive outlook in the industry rather than a controversial one.

What was your favorite childhood memory?
Lol. This would be a challenge to choose! My favorite childhood memories vary. I’d say just listening and learning about new music from both my dad and my uncle. If it wasn’t for them, I definitely wouldn’t have a love for Hip Hip/ R&B music. I guess we could also add the days coming home from school watching 106 & Park. Lol, I loved that show!
