Today we’d like to introduce you to Denise Miller
Hi Denise, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Journey: From Dance to the Paranormal Denise Miller (Dee Dee Moonflyer)
My journey began many years ago in Dayton, Ohio, where I grew up with a deep connection to both art and the metaphysical world. In the early 1990s, I embarked on a career as a professional Middle Eastern dancer, a field I dedicated myself to until my retirement in 2018. During that time, I also had the privilege of teaching at Sinclair Community College in Dayton, where I became one of the first to introduce Middle Eastern dance to their Dance Department.
However, even as I was deeply immersed in dance, I could not ignore the pull to return to the roots of my childhood. My mother was profoundly influenced by the teachings of Edgar Cayce, a renowned psychic and medium, and her interests in meditation, UFO phenomena, and spiritual development were key aspects of my upbringing. She often shared her own transformative experience of seeing a UFO while pregnant with me, a sighting that deeply impacted her life and fueled her passion for exploring the unseen realms. Her consistency in recounting these experiences and her deep connection to psychic and spiritual practices on both sides of our family made it clear that this was a path I was naturally inclined toward.
After retiring from dance, I finally embraced my passion for the mystical and the unknown, launching the Twilight Tonic Paranormal Podcast. This project has allowed me to explore and share stories of the unexplained and the spiritual, and it continues to be a source of inspiration and growth. My hope is to expand this platform with a second podcast, Women and Tea, which will focus on herbal teas, crystals, and the empowerment of women in the metaphysical space.
I believe that this field offers tremendous potential for personal growth and healing, and I would love to see more women embracing it. The intersection of spirituality, wellness, and intuition is a powerful force, and I am excited to contribute to this growing movement.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Like any journey, mine has been filled with obstacles, each one presenting its own challenges. The first and perhaps most significant was the decision to retire from my life as a professional dancer. Dance was a passion that defined my identity for nearly three decades. When it came time to step away in 2018, it was not an easy transition. I spent countless nights pacing, wondering what came next, and grappling with the uncertainty of leaving behind something that had been such an integral part of my life. Retiring from such a deeply passionate profession was a daunting hurdle to overcome.
The second obstacle came when I decided to launch my podcast, Twilight Tonic Paranormal Podcast. Figuring out how to get the show off the ground was no small task. Thankfully, I have a very supportive partner. My husband, an exceptionally talented musician and producer, has been instrumental in the success of the podcast. He handles all of the production, from the music to the technical aspects of the show, and his unwavering support has been invaluable. Together, we make a great team, and his expertise has allowed me to focus on the content while he ensures the technical quality is top-notch.
The third obstacle I continue to face is the challenge of being taken seriously in the paranormal and metaphysical fields. These areas are often met with skepticism, and as someone who has experienced unexplainable phenomena firsthand it can be
frustrating to see those experiences questioned or dismissed. There is still a stigma around this work, and many people are quick to dismiss what they do not understand. However, I have seen things and felt things that defy logical explanation, and despite the skepticism, I remain committed to sharing these stories and insights. The key is to stay true to my experiences and trust that others who are on a similar path will resonate with the authenticity and passion behind
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Podcasting, to me, is an art of interviewing, listening, and staying humble. I am proud of stepping out of my shell in a new way and finding my voice. What I am most proud of, though, is the working with my husband . After years of performing separately, its been incredible to set that part of our lives aside and collaborate on something we are both passionate about.
How do you think about happiness?
Hearing the stories and experiences of others brings me a sense of connection and comfort. It helps me make sense of my own experiences and reminds me that I have had, It lets me know I am not alone in this journey. It’s an incredibly fulfilling to know that we are all navigating similar paths in different ways.
