Conversations with Crystal Ann Hall

Today we’d like to introduce you to Crystal Ann Hall.

Hi Crystal, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
I am Afro-Hispanic, born and raised in Cleveland, OH. Both my parents were born and raised in Puerto Rico and moved to Cleveland in their 20s – where my father became the first Hispanic male officer assigned to the Narcotics Unit/Task Force, Tactical Unit, and the Recruitment Unit after serving in the Army. During the first few years of my education, I took ESL-based classes. My parents worked with me on my communication and art proficiency, teaching me to be intentional about succeeding. I have a strong passion for communication and community engagement.

I attended and graduated from a digital arts-based curriculum high school, SuccessTech Academy. That was when I began to pursue a passion for digital arts and graphic design. I worked as a freelance throughout college, creating flyers and branded materials for local car washes, beauty salons, and small businesses. I graduated from Cleveland State University and continued designing as a freelancer, working with many non-profit organizations by providing branding and marketing support to assist their efforts to recruit, train, and establish themselves within the community. I have set up my own business and solidified national brand contracts for digital and print-ad marketing.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
There can be challenges as a business owner, especially as a freelancer. Not only do I have a full-service marketing agency, but I also work full-time for a non-profit organization, CASA of Cuyahoga County, where we recruit, train, and support community volunteers who serve as court-appointed professionals who provide a powerful voice for children who have been abused and neglected.

Every day may not be a busy day, but when it is, it can be overwhelming at times, but always a blessing. I focus on the tasks at hand and take pride in my time management. I value the client’s experience and ensure that everything they receive from my customer service during the consultation to the delivery of the final product is exceptional; quality is critical.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
High Crown Marketing Group is a full-service branding and marketing agency focusing on branding and marketing specifically for community-based organizations. I have worked in the non-profit sector for several years. I realized that the passion for serving the community and providing essential resources to the individuals they serviced was there. However, being able to communicate their mission in an informative way but engaging was slightly missing.

As a graphic designer, I aim to provide a creative design that connects to the target client with purpose and intent. I take pride in connecting with my client – they are more than a ticket in my system or a pending invoice. I ask questions that allow them to think about essential aspects of their design service and allow their passion to serve as the foundation for designing strategically. Anyone can put colors together, but enabling your brand to inspire and send a message is another level of branding.

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
I have received significant support from my friends and peers by supporting my business, recommending my services, and providing their feedback – I have been undoubtedly successful. First and foremost, God gave me the talent and perseverance to succeed in graphic design and creative marketing.

Tyrone Hall, Jr., my husband, has been so supportive by allowing me to be the creative behind his real estate business. He has also supported every idea that I have had to improve my skill, no matter the day or time.

Chardé Hollins has trusted me with her brand and allowed me to collaborate with her on several projects within the community. She trusted me with just a vision – and that trust alone has flourished into much success.

And, of course I want to thank my previous and existing clients who entrust me with their vision and brand.
