Today we’d like to introduce you to Coreen Woodhead and Ashley Ayme.
Coreen and Ashley, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
We were colleagues at a previous spa, and when presented with an opportunity to branch out on our own, we decided to forge our own business. We already shared several clients and worked well together, so it seemed like a great fit.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No, it was not a smooth road. We had 30 days from the day we got the keys to our new space to the day we had to open. We had to completely renovate and move everything. We replaced ceiling tiles, pulled up old carpet, scrubbed walls, sanded down doors, primed and painted walls. We had new flooring installed. We did all of this while still working all the regular hours of our jobs and taking care of our families. We are both single moms, so this was an incredibly stressful time. We had a lot to juggle, got very little sleep, and lived on a lot of takeout, caffeine’ and White Claw.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
Coreen Woodhead, Licensed Massage Therapist. I have over 28 years of experience as a massage therapist. I love being someone’s first experience with massage. I believe a massage table should be a safe place for clients to receive nurturing care and stress relief. I also believe in massage being a therapeutic service, whether it is strictly stress relief, help with pain and flexibility, or more chronic conditions. I use the Synergy Stones for my hot stone massage and use Ashley Black fascia tools for fascia work.
Ashley Ayme: I have been a manicurist for over 13 years. I specialize in natural nails because it’s the healthiest option for long beautiful nails… The integrity of my client’s nail health is very important to me. This is one of the reasons I use an LED light to harden the gel polish as it is safer than UV lights. I love educating my clients about their nail bed health. I have a lot of clients who come to see me for pedicures because I am great at removing ingrown toenails. My favorite part of my job is the relationships I have built with my clients.
So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
Maintaining a wellness-oriented atmosphere. We focus on body positivity and inclusivity here. Because we are a woman-owned business, we also love to support other women-owned businesses and will often feature a woman-owned business in our spa.
