Conversations with Cole Clayton

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cole Clayton

Cole, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
There’s two distinctive things you learn when you’re kidnapped by your mom’s husband, at 6 years old; 1, The FBI gets involved if you’re taken across state lines, and 2 the world is much bigger than the street you play with your friends on. That little 6 month stint in Florida opened my eyes, and gave me a hunger for culture. I grew up in Texas, for the most part, and when I was about 19 years old I locked eyes with my first love. The Denny’s waitress who was in the middle of a turbulent divorce at the time that was soon set to depart back to her roots in Cleveland. I made my way back with her here, and settled in and I found myself a job in the kitchen industry, working my way up to Sous Chef. We had a son together, Jack, who’s my little champ. That girl and I separated nearly 4 years ago, but I’ve since fallen in love with my city, Cleveland, and I plan to mold it into a legacy for Jack before I lay down my boots. While Jack was just in his mom’s belly, her and my favorite past time was watching stand-up comedy. That grew into a desire to try it out for myself. Well, the lockdown gave me that now or never feel. So, I tried my first “Zoom” Open-Mic, and once again, I was in love. Before I knew it, I was traveling comic. However, this put a strain on my relationship with Jack’s mother, and we moved on from each other. This faced me with the inability to see my son, or move to a more remote based career. 2 years in now, and I have several Live shows on my YouTube Channel such as Hammered & Cheese, a cooking podcast centered around my bestie Dino The Genetic Marvel and alcohol, Every Other Weekend Meals which start Jack as I teach him to make delicious meal. The Greatest God Damn Show on Air, which is just a podcast with me and my sister speaking on current events, and lastly but not least, my mother and I make bets on Football called Sunday Best Bets.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Is there a such thing as a smooth road in Ohio? I mean that literally and figuratively. It took me a while to find my lane. When I was 18, I left the nest in Texas to live with my maternal grandfather in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi. My grandfather has always lightly reminded me of Ricky Bobby’s dad, Reese Bobby from Talladega Nights, if you’re familiar. Just full insight that’s backed by drug induced mistakes. His idea of making a man out of me was hooking me up with a pest control job. Well on Gulf of Mexico, a pest is often referred to as an alligator. This jobs not for everyone, and after having to tackle on of these beasts as an 18 year boy, I put together quickly that is wasn’t for me. So back to Texas, where I ended up as a cook at Denny’s and found food, and love. I was a boy without direction, and although I have all ten of my fingers, I learned that I needed a path. Eventually, that path found me.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
So basically, I’m a Content Creator typically on YouTube. However, you can find me @Sniffingglue22 on X, Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook. My sister likes to call it a disease. “Chronically Online”. I just call it “Gettin’ the bag”. My most proud work is Hammered & Cheese, tightly followed by Every Other Weekend Meals. Both of which are cooking podcasts where I can showcase my lover food, friends, and my family.

What sets me apart from everyone else is that the majority of my content is Live, as well slightly abrasive. I embrace the chaos. Sometimes the live chat gets ruthless and I have to be prepared to retort. I’ve accidently cut my finger before, and may have had a minor fire… may have… The most recent wrinkle is that my mother just divorced her crackhead husband after he sold her car for drugs, so she moved in with me for the time being. So now, she sometimes steals whatever it that I’m cooking before I’m finished… Mid show… It’s never a dull moment. Reach out to find out more!

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
The work. I love putting in the effort that keeps depression at bay. I also love that my channel is taking off recently. I was monetized on YouTube and TikTok over the summer. So the fruits of my hard work are growing evermore. I also love being there for my son, as he seems to show a deep interest in becoming a content creator soon, too.
