Today we’d like to introduce you to Christi Atkins.
Hi Christi, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I had been working in the medical field for nearly 20 years, nightshift. In 2018 I was injured on the job caring for a homicidal patient. I threw my back out and have 3 herniated discs. I was in and out of court for a year fighting workers comp. During that period of time I suffered from depression and put almost 100 lbs on. After a year of court battles and nothing being resolved I decided that it was time to take my life back and put my health into my own hands. I started packing cleaning eating lunches to take to work. Spent countless hours researching healthy habits to include. Over the next 3 years of eating “clean” and working hard, I lost 85lbs. My friends noticed the results and asked for me to pack their lunches as well. Over time friends encouraged me to start selling my meals.
I posted them on social media in January of 2022. The first week I sold 9 meals. Week 2 I sold 15. Week 3 I sold 250. Business grew so quickly after that.. I was constantly working to build and to get our food out to as many people as we could while also paying close attention to the detail, the quality, and the love that goes into each meal and dish that we serve. Fast forward to June of 2025, I now have my first brick and mortar shop. We make upwards of 2k meals a week. We cater events from grand celebrations (our largest being 300) to intimate gatherings. We host events in our space, we cater daily lunches for a couple of local schools, we stay heavily involved in the local school districts and city events, and we offer Grab and Go in our shop and several other small local businesses in our surrounding areas.
This business has truly had such an incredible impact on my life. I have met so many amazing people along away and have heard fascinating and inspiring stories.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has absolutely not been a smooth road. I have met so many obstacles along the way. From small (catastrophic) things like a table collapsing and losing 100 meals to major setbacks like getting permits and inspections done. Getting the word out to more and more people and gaining trust to feed the people. Failed recipes and most recently our walk-in breaking down and having to throw away 12k worth of orders and sending refunds to all. So many customers went without that week and I had not felt that low in quite some time
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
We specialize in meal prep and catering, however we are known for the beautiful works of art that we turn our food into and the high quality ingredients that we use in every single dish, We are most known for our clean, whole, non-processed, fresh meals and dishes. We truly put the need of others in the spotlight, catering to several allergies and likes and dislikes. Customers are the heart and soul of our business and they are what drives us to bring the best food that we can to everyone’s tables.
I am so proud of the team that I have built. I have the most amazing group of people that make this machine run on a daily basis and they truly care just as much as I do.
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I was a struggling, single mom for several years. There were years that I would go days without eating because I could only afford to feed my children, and months where I was worried about how I would keep a roof over our heads. I was persistent that I was going to someday build a life that we could all be proud of. I met an amazing man, that is now my husband. He saw potential in me that I never saw and has been my biggest cheerleader for the past 10 years. He has always pushed me to do what makes me happy. I am not naive to the fact that without him encouraging me, this business would not be where it is today.
