Conversations with Brittany Simmons

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittany Simmons.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Creating a clothing brand has always been a dream/achievement of mine as a child. As I got older, I didn’t know where to start, so I did my research and I reached out to other small business owners who I knew with clothing boutiques to get their knowledge of the business. In 2017 I began working on my brand after my grandmother passed, that’s how I got the name for the brand which is her birthday in memory of her. In the process of creating my brand and going through things I put my brand to the side for a bit. While letting time pass and after making every excuse I could to stop me from pursuing my dream, I had a moment to myself where I didn’t want to regret not at least starting the business. So after like my third life line trying to get my business started I officially launched my website for my women’s clothing boutique on July 14th, 2020 during a pandemic. I did it afraid but felt so accomplished once I did it and now I’m celebrating 2 years this year!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No, it has not been a smooth road at all, I’m constantly overthinking and doubting my creativity with every collection. It’s very tough starting from nothing and developing a brand that you want to see succeed, I have to constantly talk myself out of wanting to quit, especially if I’m not seeing the results I want to see right away. Also while constantly trying to make sure I stand out and apart from the rest, while being true to my brand and myself.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m currently working in insurance which has nothing to do with fashion, while running my clothing boutique. I’m constantly creating looks for customers while planning to expand and add more to my brand. I am also curating a pop up shop soon to get other small business owners together to network. I just want to keep creating and see what happens in the process!

What does success mean to you?
I define success as achieving and aiming to achieve the goals I have set for myself. Being successful is making an impact in others lives, by helping and leading others to achieving their own goals. I’m not successful if I haven’t made an impact in someone’s life to go after the things they believe in and want to achieve.
