Today we’d like to introduce you to Brandy Coffey.
Hi Brandy, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
My candle journey started as a hobby in 2011 when I was going through chemo for 3rd stage Colon and Thyroid cancer. Once chemo was over, and I was cleared, my hobby switched to a business in 2014. Sweetlycreated4u was birthed. From that place, I created until I felt my candles were not selling fast, so I shut down, prayed about it, and re-launched with my signature line dessert candles. Where we create desserts in candle form. Now we are carried in a few local small businesses. We have several lines we have created under Sweetlycreated4u with my faith being the foundation of my brand.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
No, it has not been all smooth. I have struggled with low sales and not having faith in the vision God has given me. A few years I was in the hospital due to a bowel blockage end up being in the hospital for 3 months my business was paused, and I had to get my physical strength, so candle-making was on the back burner. The latest was Covid pulling out some locations because sales were slow, but through all that, I am still here!
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I love creating even when I’m not intentionally thinking about it, I still think about it. I am self-taught learning my craft from books, you tube videos and any classes I can tack to expand my knowledge. I am most proud of myself and wanting to always learn and grow. I love when my customers want custom candles created it allows my creativity to be pushed in a good way.
