Bethany, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
MobileMed started with 2 providers in 2019. They wanted the ease of staying at home for urgent care needs. In 2022 we added primary care to our urgent care visits. Our primary care is membership-based. It also includes our urgent care services. We have also started an esthetic branch to include Botox, microneedleing, and chemical peels.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Covid was a difficult time for all providers. MobileMed excelled during this time and we continue to add members daily. One challenge we face is that we are a concierge service and we do not accept insurance. It is difficult for patients to change the thought process about insurance. It is in a free fall with prices getting higher and coverage getting less. We are trying to reconnect with patients and redevelop the patient-physician relationship.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am the primary care director as well as head the esthetics team. I left the practice of office medicine after 15 years at the same group. I really enjoy developing the patient-physician relationship and have enjoyed the freedom to create new bonds with my new patients.
The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
Patients really enjoy the convenience of at-home care, as well as the cost-benefit of knowing the cost upfront versus many hidden fees utilizing insurance. It is also much more safe for older individuals to stay in their homes as well.
