Today we’d like to introduce you to Bea Balmaseda
Hi Bea, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
As a young girl, I loved picking flowers and spending time in nature. I was born and raised in Switzerland. I chose to go into a floral design program and studied as an apprentice for three years following high school. I became a certified florist in 1997. I worked many jobs, but my dream has always been to own my own flower shop. When I first moved to the United States I lived in Miami. There, I met my husband, Marcos. His job at G.E. brought us to Cincinnati shortly after we married. We now live in Mason and have two amazing sons. I started my own flower business out of my basement in 2019, but outgrew that space. In 2022 my dream came true! I opened my own store in August of that year. I have learned so much from owning my own business. What keeps me going is helping each customer by creating unique and beautiful flower arrangements.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Owning a small business is challenging because, in the end, I am responsible for everything that happens. I am determined to make each and every customer happy with their experience at Bea’s Flowers. Sometimes that means problem solving and learning how to make an arrangement that will make someone’s dream come true. At other times, that means driving all over Cincinnati and Dayton to find the perfect flower for an order. Those challenges can be the most rewarding to overcome. After a long day, I can sit back and know I’ve helped make an occasion special for someone.

Bea’s Flowers loves creating unique designs. We help people with weddings, sympathy arrangements, special occasions, dances, and everyday gifts to brighten someone’s day. We can make items in traditional or modern styles. We also love a good challenge. Custom orders give us a chance to really listen to our clients and help them create a one of a kind arrangement. I also have developed my own artistic style. My favorite arrangements to make are things that no one else sells. Large modern arrangements with monstera leaves, clean lines, and unique flowers elevate what we sell to a level that sets us apart from other florists
We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
Our logo has a special origin story. I designed it myself with pencil and paper. I chose colors and floral designs which represent me and my business. Later, my husband helped recreate the logo with graphic design tools on the computer. This allowed us to use the logo to create car magnets, our store signage, and professional business cards. I love to look back at the original drawings and then realize how far I have come!
