Community Highlights: Meet Tamara Moreal of Alpine Nutrition and Wellness

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tamara Moreal.

Hi Tamara, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
Hello! My name is Tamara Moreal. I am a Registered Holistic Nutritionist and educator from Independence, Ohio. I hold a Bachelor of Education, and I attended the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition where I completed the Natural Nutrition program. My desire to become a holistic nutritionist was a result of my own health issues that were resolved using a holistic approach.

My health journey began about 15 years ago. For YEARS, I did not feel “myself”. I had bouts of anxiety, brain fog, and fatigue. I have an autoimmune disease called Hashimotos, and I thought that may be the underlying and contributing factor to these symptoms. It is when I spoke to my primary care physician’s office, shared my symptoms, and all they wanted to do was prescribe me an anti-depressant, that my journey to get the “root cause” of my primary health concerns began. Their response left me not only humiliated but infuriated as I was not depressed.

I sought out the best Integrative Medicine and Functional Medicine Dr.s in my area. Each doctor performed comprehensive tests, and with each test I received answers!!! I soon found out that I was severely sensitive to gluten, so much so that I had to remove it from my diet completely. From this change alone, my symptoms lifted somewhat. We dug deeper to find out I had severe gut dysbiosis and a parasite which all contributed to a leaky gut. This meant that toxins that were to be held in my microbiome leaked into my bloodstream thus causing anxiousness, brain fog, joint pain, and fatigue!

With the help of my doctors, we use a targeted approach of nutrition, lifestyle, and personalized supplement to support my system.

In addition to my doctor’s help, I went to school to become a holistic nutritionist. I became aware of the powerful tools of natural nutrition, lifestyle, and supplement support to achieve optimal health.

The process took several years, but is all behind me now!! I now use what I experienced with my health to help my clients!

My belief is that the client holds the key to their wellness and that true health involves a combined approach using nutrition and lifestyle practices. My goal when I work with my clients is to use a compassionate, manageable approach to empower my clients to take control of their health using optimal nutrition, targeted supplemental support, and lifestyle recommendations to reach their peak in wellness physically, mentally, and spiritually.

My roots have certainly contributed to my passion and knowledge of holistic nutrition! I grew up on a 1200-acre working farm that supported sustainable agriculture. We grew our own vegetables and raised livestock and poultry. From my upbringing, I learned the value of knowing the original source of food and learned to appreciate the land. In addition, we took pride in cooking everything from scratch and eating produce that was in season when nutrient levels are at their peak. To this day, I continue to grow vegetables, support local farmers’ markets and enjoy pasture-raised meats.

Good nutrition isn’t about rigid suggestions of what you can and can’t eat. It is about enjoying foods in a broad variety, minimally processed; In your kitchen or at your table, which in my opinion, is one of the most important parts of a home!

I have consulted with several clients over the past couple of years to improve digestion, restore energy, and decrease inflammation.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Being an entrepreneur has had its challenges. Setting up the business, and creating a website all took time and once everything was “in place”, I was naive to think clients would just come my way!

On the contrary, the majority of my clients have all been referral-based.

As you know, we’re big fans of Alpine Nutrition and Wellness. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Alpine Nutrition and Wellness was established in the spring of 2020. It was my goal to establish Alpine so I could help others who had a similar experience to my own.

I help those that have digestive upset, are bloated, chronically tired, and just not feeling their best self!

I help get to the root cause of symptoms and reset & balance the body using clean nutrition, lifestyle practices, and personalized supplement support.

I have worked with several college-age women and would like to continue to serve this population.

One thing I am most proud of with Alpine is that I try to give one person an exceptional experience rather than several clients’ mediocre services.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
My husband, Michael, for his continued encouragement and support from the infancy of my business. He has been at my side throughout my personal health journey and continues to support me as I help others!

My children, as they continually inspire me, take an interest in, and support my work!

My immediate and extended family have supported me through this entire journey.

My business coach Stephanie Long educated me on the tools to get a nutrition business up and running.

Dr. Sherri Tenpenny taught me the foundations of “whole-body health”, that all systems are connected and healing can take place without pharmaceuticals.

My colleague Dr. Marcus Cirelli who is a Functional Medicine provider has given me the opportunity to work alongside him to help clients achieve their health and wellness goals.

Friends who support me and keep me motivated!
