Today we’d like to introduce you to Serena Williams.
Hi Serena, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
The Lactation Clinic At The Well was founded by April Kline with a simple but powerful intention: to create a space where families could receive truly comprehensive, whole-person lactation care. After years of supporting parents and newborns, April recognized that families needed far more than quick assessments or surface-level guidance. They needed time, connection, hands-on support, and a team that understood the physical, emotional, and structural challenges that shape the feeding journey.
What began as a small practice with just two dedicated providers has now grown into a robust, multidisciplinary team of six. Each practitioner brings their own strengths and specialized training, allowing the clinic to serve families through every season of feeding, from the first latch to complex oral-motor concerns, supply challenges, pumping plans, and beyond.
Today, The Lactation Clinic At The Well offers care wherever families need it: in the comfort of their homes, in the office, and even at the hospital bedside during those early, fragile hours after birth. This flexibility ensures that no family falls through the cracks, especially when feeding difficulties arise quickly and require immediate, skilled support.
As the clinic continued to grow, so did its partnerships. One of the most impactful additions has been the collaboration with Greg Notestine, DDS, one of the region’s leading experts in oral tie evaluation and treatment. His support has allowed the clinic to expand its services for infants with oral restrictions, ensuring families receive coordinated, high-quality care from diagnosis through aftercare, bodywork, and feeding rehabilitation.
Grounded in evidence-based practice, compassion, and community, The Lactation Clinic At The Well has become a trusted anchor for families across the Miami Valley. The team’s mission remains the same as the day it began: to honor each family’s feeding goals, provide individualized guidance, and create a place where parents feel seen, supported, and empowered.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The journey definitely hasn’t been a completely smooth road. In the beginning, one of our biggest challenges was simply getting our name out into the community. We would meet families who walked through our doors genuinely shocked to learn that a comprehensive, whole-person lactation clinic existed right here in the Miami Valley. Building visibility and helping parents understand what kind of support was available to them took time, consistency, and a lot of heart. But we’re incredibly grateful to serve a region that values families and embraces community-based care. As awareness has grown, so has our impact, and we’re excited for everything that’s ahead.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about The Lactation Clinic At The Well?
The Lactation Clinic At The Well was founded by April Kline to bring truly comprehensive, whole-person lactation care to our community. I (Serena Williams) serve as the Clinical Director, overseeing our staff while also working directly with families. We offer lactation and bottle-feeding support, oral-tie evaluation and aftercare, infant bodywork, and on-call feeding support when families need us most. Our care is available in-home, in-office, and even in the hospital. We’ve designed our space to feel like you’re walking into a comfortable home, where ease meets care, and our approach centers on deep, whole-person listening so every family feels seen and supported.
How do you define success?
Success, for me, is when a family leaves feeling lighter than when they arrived. If a parent feels heard, supported, and empowered.. whether we solved a feeding issue or simply helped them breathe easier, that’s success. It’s the small moments of relief and confidence that matter most.
