Today we’d like to introduce you to Maryn Thacker.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I attended Tri-River’s career center in Marion, Ohio my senior year in high school. I chose the esthetics program because self-care has always been a priority for me. Making others feel beautiful as a career is simply the best job I can imagine. I became licensed in June of 2021 when I was 17 years old. I knew I wanted to move to Columbus in my future, so I began applying for several esthetician jobs anywhere I could. Unfortunately, due to my lack of experience working in the field, I did not get very far in the hiring process. I moved to Columbus immediately after I turned 18. After working as a manager at Mcdonald’s, in November of 2021, I made the decision to open my own studio to create the business I desired. I signed the lease at Sola Salons in Westerville and opened Eye Candy by Maryn in February of 2022. Since then, I have grown as a lash artist, an esthetician, an entrepreneur, and a person.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It’s not always been easy, of course, life has had its obstacles. Clients weren’t always coming in, things break constantly, insufficient funds to keep going, personal issues, and whatnot. But it always works out regardless.
As you know, we’re big fans of Eye Candy by Maryn. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Eye Candy by Maryn is ran by solo esthetician, Maryn Thacker. I offer services such as brows, lashes, full body waxing, and soon-to-be facials. I’m most popular for my eyelash extensions. Soon, I will be offering facials with my own self-made skincare line. I plan to make my skincare as natural and sustainable as possible. My biggest accomplishment is the energy I have created for my business, the bonds I have created and the relationship I have with my clients are unmatched. I often get remarks from clientele complimenting the energy of my room or the energy of my one self. Eye Candy by Maryn is a brand that will forever promote wellness and beauty, inside and out. I want all my clients too feel like their best self after they leave my room.
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
GRATITUDE!!! Being grateful for anything and everything has changed my vision on things. Practicing gratitude and being able to stay thankful during the good and bad times has gotten me so far.
