Today we’d like to introduce you to Maggie Neumann.
Hi Maggie, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I have always liked to bake and wanted to work in a bakery. Most of them are not wheelchair accessible though. I couldn’t find a job during the pandemic. One of my high school teachers came to my party that we had for me when I finished my program at the children’s hospital. We had my Baileys Irish cream cheesecakes there and she liked them so much she emailed me a week later and asked me to make a dozen of them for her for a baby shower and she said she would pay me for them. After that, I started selling my cheesecakes to other people.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has definitely been challenging learning how to balance everything that is involved in running a business. As we have grown it is especially challenging to figure out how to manage everything when it gets really busy.
As you know, we’re big fans of Maggie’s Marvelous Mini Cheesecakes. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I specialize in mini cheesecakes. and I have 7 flavors that are always on the menu as well as monthly flavors and seasonal flavors. Some examples are mocha, chocolate peanut butter, peppermint bark, apple and Key lime. A very important part of my business is giving back to the community. I donate 20% of my sales and all of my tips to charities that are important to me.
Who else deserves credit in your story?
My mom. She helps me make the cheesecakes and she washes the dishes. I have also had a lot of help and support from friends and family. They encourage me and some of my friends even come over to help decorate cheesecakes when we are really busy.
