Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My husband & I love trying new beers and typically enjoy a flight of beer 🍻
We would love to have a bar/brewery restaurant at some point down the line, but wanted to start a business where we could continue working our full time jobs and supporting our family.
We loved the concept of being able to taste 6 different beers or any type of cocktail/mocktail you want!
My husband, Russ and I have been married for 9 years. We have an 18 year old son and a 12 year old daughter. We also have 2 dogs & 3 cats, so basically a zoo 🐾
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
We have definitely had struggles! The first day we brought the VW MicroBus home, we couldn’t start it. My husband and I managed to push it out of its trailer and in the process, I was learning how to keep my feet on the clutch so that we didn’t fly backwards. My husband was standing in the doorway, helping me along when I accidentally took my foot off of the brake and with the door open we started to move backwards. Russ tried to protect the door from the wire that holds the trailer door down and his arm got all torn up by the wire & the paint job on the door was all scraped off!
He has a pretty nice scar on his arm from it and we have since had to get the paint touched up. It was a crazy first day in business!
As you know, we’re big fans of Kombi Keg Cincinnati LLC. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Kombi Keg Cincinnati is a mobile bar service but so much more! We have a 1976 Volkswagen MicroBus that has been reimagined into a striking Teal & White 6-Tap keg system, a 55” smart tv that pops out of the top and a bay window for extra drink options that doesn’t need to be ice cold or decor.
We offer 3 packages that vary between $1250 – $2250. 1-2 bartenders, bar top options, menus, drink consultations, grocery lists & more.
We offer additional options such as: a Mimosa bar, Champagne Cart, yard games like Adult Jenga, and even a wedding tent to rent!
What was your favorite childhood memory?
My husband & I both grew up in a small town in Ohio. We actually attended the same school and had an incredible basketball team! Our basketball team made it to state and we were both at that game.
The entire experience was really fun and cool to be a part of.
