Community Highlights: Meet Jaimie Shaver of Salon @ Creekside

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jaimie Shaver.

Hi Jaimie, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
If you had told me years ago that I’d one day own my own salon, I might’ve smiled and nodded—but deep down, I always knew I’d work hard to make that dream real.

My journey in the beauty industry started right after I graduated from beauty school. I began as an independent contractor, which meant I had to hustle—building my own clientele, managing my own schedule, and continuously learning on the job. It wasn’t easy, but it gave me the freedom to grow, both as a stylist and as a businesswoman. Over time, I developed a strong and loyal client base, and with every cut, color, and conversation, my confidence grew.

Eventually, I started envisioning a space of my own—one where clients didn’t just come to “get their hair done,” but felt truly welcomed and cared for. That vision became The Salon @ Creekside. Taking ownership of it was one of the most meaningful and fulfilling decisions I’ve ever made. I wanted to create an environment that reflected my values: personalized service, warmth, creativity, and a deep respect for every person who walks through our doors.

My specialties have always been color, bridal hair, and airbrush makeup, and I pour my heart into each service. I’m especially passionate about weddings, I’ve been lucky enough to travel all over, even as far as Florida, to help brides feel their most beautiful. There’s something sacred about being part of someone’s wedding day, and I never take that

Faith has played a big role in my journey, especially in recent years. I’ve felt God’s presence and guidance through every twist and turn. My family, my clients, and my team at the salon are all part of the blessings I count daily. And if there’s one thing I’ve learned that applies to both business and life, it’s this: communication is everything. Listening, speaking truth in love, being honest and kind—it’s what sustains relationships and builds trust.

Owning The Salon @ Creekside is more than just a job to me. It’s a calling, a passion, and a place where I get to live out what I love every single day.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Definitely not a smooth road—but every bump has taught me something.

When I first started in the industry, I had to work hard to build my clientele from scratch. There were a lot of long days, late nights, and moments of wondering if I was doing the right thing. Being an independent contractor taught me discipline and grit, but it also meant carrying a lot of responsibility alone.

Owning a salon brought a whole new set of challenges—managing a space, building a team, navigating unexpected expenses, and learning how to lead without losing the heart of what I love. And of course, balancing work with family life is always a real thing. I’m a mom, a wife, a business owner, and a bridal artist—some days it feels like a juggling act.

But even in the hard seasons, I’ve leaned on my faith, my family, and especially my husband, Jordan. He’s been my constant—handling so much of the behind-the-scenes work so I can focus on my clients and team. We’ve learned how to weather the tough moments together, and that’s made us stronger.

So no—it hasn’t always been easy. But it’s been worth it. Every challenge has shaped the way I lead, the way I serve, and the woman I’ve become.

We’ve been impressed with Salon @ Creekside, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
The Salon @ Creekside is truly a reflection of who I am—not just as a stylist, but as a person. It’s a space rooted in connection, authenticity, and creativity. When I took over ownership of the salon, I knew I didn’t just want it to be a work space; I wanted it to feel safe, welcoming, and empowering—for both our clients and the amazing team that works here.

That’s where Omni Beauty LLC comes in. I created Omni as a personal brand to reflect the full range of what I do, especially in the bridal world—hair, airbrush makeup, and on-site styling. “Omni” means “all,” and to me, it represents a full-spectrum approach to beauty. It’s about making women feel radiant from the inside out, whether they’re sitting in my chair for a fresh color or standing in front of the mirror on their wedding day.

I’ve worked hard to weave the heart of Omni Beauty into the daily life of the salon. That means everything from the personalized service we provide to the uplifting culture I’ve built with my team. I don’t just want to grow a business—I want to cultivate a space where stylists feel supported, creative, and inspired, and where clients feel seen and celebrated.

Omni Beauty allows me to expand beyond the salon walls and take that same energy and standard of excellence on the road, especially for weddings and events. But The Salon @ Creekside is home. It’s where my passion lives and where everything I believe about beauty and community comes together.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
Youngstown and its suburbs is home in every sense of the word. It’s where I grew up, where my roots are planted, and where I’ve chosen to build both my family and my business. There’s something grounding about being in a place that holds so much of your story. No matter where life or work takes me—whether I’m traveling for a wedding or growing new parts of my brand—I know I can always come back here and feel safe, connected, and whole.

What I love most is that there’s always something happening, and something to be a part of. My husband and I are on the Celebrate Poland Committee, planning the next Celebrate Poland event for June 27th & 28th. We love hiking and biking through the local forest and around our neighborhood, and, of course, visiting our local libraries. It’s more than home, it’s a place with heart that has a special kind of energy: it’s small enough to feel close-knit, but big enough to offer culture, creativity, and opportunity.

Being part of this community isn’t something I take for granted. It’s a privilege to contribute to the vibrancy of this area through my work. I see it as more than just doing hair or makeup—it’s about adding to the beauty and momentum of a city I love. We’re part of the whole here, and that responsibility means something to me. I’m proud to grow my business here, raise my kids here, and be one small piece of what makes this community shine.
