Hi J.M., we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m a writer. Author of four books and one bestselling novel. When I decided to further my entrepreneurial dreams and start a brick-and-mortar business, I could think of nothing better and more appropriate than a bookstore. And so, I did.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has been smooth. The first iteration of my bookstore, “Scarlet Rose Books & Vintage Boutique,” began as “The Tome Bookstore” in Mount Washington in Cincinnati. At this location, we merged a bookstore idea with coffee and a cafe style. We eventually wanted to get away from the coffee idea, and that’s how the new reimagined version of our bookstore came to be. Here at Scarlet Rose Books & Vintage Boutique we merge the idea of a bookstore and boutique clothing, along with the aesthetic of vintage home goods.

I’m a writer and the owner of this bookstore. I’m known for being a writer and helping future and current writers with my writing workshops and other events. If which I offer for free to the community. What sets my bookstore apart from others is, the owner is a current novelist and still operates in that capacity. I’m most proud of our customers service and the events that we offer to the community to enrich those in literature that wish to participate.
