Hi Isana, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Isana Ashaneya-Sebastian. I started IA GLAM when I was 20 years old when I hit a point with no interest of what was going on in my life. I always wanted a brand/business of my own, but I always thought it would be when I got much older. Luckily, God had other plans. I had went to community college, and I hated it. I was never much of a school person, and I didn’t go to school for me but for my parents’ sake. I loved what I was going to school for but not as much as I loved makeup and beauty, something told me to leave school and I wasn’t doing well, even lost my FASFA. Dropping out of school was a big factor in my unmotivated journey. During this time, I had put in my notes of names I would call my business in the future, not knowing I was going to have one 6 months later. I came a across videos on YouTube of all these signs to start one and how to. Once I got the first sign, I kept going. I started IA GLAM while a was working a security job that didn’t treat me fair. I worked hard at IA GLAM, soon quit that security job, and have been working for myself and found other passions along the way since.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Starting IA GLAM has not been a smooth road. When I first started, I expected so much. My expectations of the business didn’t match reality at the beginning but during that tough time at the beginning, I realized I was going to have to work 10xs harder to achieve the results I wanted.

IA GLAM is a small black-owned business founded in Columbus, Ohio. IA GLAM started in early 2020, pre-pandemic, and we are very proud to say that we made it through!
