Hi George, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My journey into design and construction didn’t begin with blueprints and contracts—it began with a vision. From the start, I was drawn to transforming spaces and solving problems, taking what seemed ordinary and turning it into something extraordinary.

I started small, working on residential remodels where attention to detail and clear communication were just as important as the craftsmanship itself. Over time, I saw a gap in the market: homeowners and businesses needed more than just a builder. They needed someone who could guide them through the design, planning, and construction process as one seamless experience.

That realization became the foundation of Y2 Design & Build. What began as a remodeling company has grown into a full-service design-build firm in Westerville, Ohio, specializing in luxury kitchens, bathrooms, basements, additions, and light commercial transformations. Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Like any entrepreneurial journey, it hasn’t always been smooth. Building Y2 Design & Build meant facing real challenges, both in the field and behind the scenes.

In the beginning, the toughest part was earning trust. Competing against larger, established firms meant proving—project after project—that Y2 could deliver the same level of craftsmanship with more care and transparency. Resources were limited, so I often had to wear every hat—from estimator to marketer to project manager—just to keep the business moving.
The construction industry is heavily affected by supply chains and economic swings. we had to navigate lumber price spikes, labor shortages, and unpredictable material lead times, all while keeping projects on schedule and on budget. Each of these tested the company’s systems and resilience.

As Y2 started to grow, the challenge became how to scale the business without losing the personal touch. Managing multiple crews, projects across different markets, and high client expectations required building strong internal processes, hiring carefully, and creating branded systems that maintained consistency.

Perhaps the biggest lesson was realizing that construction isn’t just about tools and materials—it’s about people, trust, and communication. Keeping homeowners comfortable during disruptive remodels, aligning visions during design, and staying transparent about costs all demanded constant growth in leadership and communication skills.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Growing up, I was naturally curious and hands-on. I liked taking things apart just to see how they worked—sometimes putting them back together, sometimes making them into something new. That curiosity naturally translated into a love for building and creating.

Personality-wise, I’ve always been driven, detail-oriented, and independent. I was the type of kid who could spend hours sketching ideas. At the same time, I enjoyed people—I liked working with others, leading group projects, and finding solutions when challenges came up.

I had a strong entrepreneurial streak early on. While some kids were focused only on schoolwork or sports, I was always thinking about how to turn ideas into reality—how to take a vision and make it tangible.
