Hi Cynthia, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
It starts with meeting my husband in 9th grade. We dated all through high school and when we graduated in 2001 his sister had asked me what my future plans are. I told her I wasn’t sure. That’s when she asked me if I wanted to go to school for nails and work with them. After graduating cosmetology school in 2002 I the. Went to work full time with my future in-laws. From 2002-2012 I trained and learned everything I know from daily operations of a nail salon to doing nails. In 2012 I then ventured off to begin my career on my own in the nail care industry. As of 2023 my husband joined me in the nail salon. We are. Ow a husband and wife team who focus completely on each client that walks through the door. We want to make sure each client leaves feeling pampered and enjoy their nails.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
If it was a smooth road then that wouldn’t be life. The first year on my own was a big learning experience. How do you get clients? How do you advertise? Not to mention figuring out what product lines you want to carry, finding a reliable CPA, and just basically learning to do everything on your own. But as with anything you have a lot of trial and error and figure it out. The next biggest challenge would have to be Covid. Having to shut down for a little bit then reopening with all the rules and regulations in the Cosmetology industry was interesting to work with. As with anything you just have to take it step by step.

Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
Yes I have learned so much. It is ok if someone calls to say they aren’t feeling good and can’t come in. And I have learned that it is OK for me to take the day off. I am not feeling. It is ok to slow down a little sometimes and take time for yourself. As far as working with clients I have went to appointment base only. This way each client will get my uninterrupted full attention for their entire scheduled appointment time.
