Community Highlights: Meet Christopher Hearn of PLN A

Today we’d like to introduce you to Christopher Hearn.

Hi Christopher, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’m born & raised in the City. My mom had me at a young age and that meant I was right there with her as she was growing up. everything from my sense of fashion, to my disposition, to the music I enjoy and create, was heavily influenced by the mid and late 90’s culture because that’s what I was surrounded by in my younger years. My mom trusted me as a kid and let me listen to whatever I wanted. 50 Cent, Kanye, Lil Wayne, Nelly, were some of the first artists who’s music I memorized when I was around 5 or 6. And of course growing up in Columbus at that time, Bow Wow was the biggest star there was. Seeing the way people responded to him – and feeling confident I could do that too – was what made me lean into music. I started writing verses around that same time, recorded my first song at like 12, and the rest is history. Music is a major part of my journey, and there are just as vivid origin stories for my path in Community, business, education, and Spirituality. But all of them have in common a piqued interest at a super young age, the opportunity to experience things on my own, and a clear positive impact on my environment when I brought ideas to life in any of those categories. I’ve been on the same time since then,

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s been a blessed road, not a smooth road. I mentioned previously that my upbringing exposed me to a lot of things that youth are usually kept away from until a certain time. Being able to see life closely for what it truly is has humbled me and developed wisdom within me. Plenty of struggle which led to plenty of learning, deeper connections, and a stronger being. And with all that said, I feel extremely grateful for my path. I’ve had significant difficulty, but from many perspectives my path has been smooth as can be. I’ve never felt absence of God or absence of support and love from the people who matter most to me. Nothing else I could ask for.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I’m involved in a few businesses that mean a lot to me. Social Class Apparrel, No Boundaries travel/Sunuway, and PLN A to name a few.

PLN A is specifically relevant to this piece tho. It’s a publishing company and creative house founded in collaboration with 2 partners. Functionally we offer publishing services and development fro wtiters, producers, and composers in our space. The music industry has no true direction which can be harmful to all the capable and passionate people who interact with it daily. Our approach has really been as direct as possible: Present important information and resources to people who can immediately put it to use, and surround them with their peers who have similar passion and talent. Most importantly, create and share processes that can be replicated so that each new group of creatives we interact with has the institutional knowledge of the group before them. Just check out our social media though you’ll get what I’m saying.

What are your plans for the future?
The last few sentences in my previous answer about presenting important information and resources, and then everything after that. That’s the plan. Continue that on a consistent basis with our best effort and best intentions.
