Today we’d like to introduce you to Chante Meadows.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My name is Chante Meadows I am a Mental Health expert and a change agent. I am a licensed clinical social worker, founder, and CEO of Meadows Counseling Group. At Meadows Counseling Group we provide individuals, couples, and group therapy that specializes in the BIPOC community. I personally provide coaching, training, and speaking engagements. I am trained in trauma therapy (EMDR) and sex therapy. I and the other mental health clinicians specialize in working with women’s issues, relationship issues, life transitions, college counseling, trauma, anxiety, and depression. We work from a collaborative and person-centered approach, integrating theories and techniques from a variety of therapies. I teach as a community lecturer in the College of Social Work at The Ohio State University and am a Ph.D. candidate at Antioch University in Leadership and Change. My passion is mental wellness, increasing access to treatment services, and decreasing the stigma around mental health. My goal is to help people live their best life.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road definitely has its bumps and bruises, but that is a part of life. When the world is hurting – we feel it in the mental health field. And the world has been dealing with a lot for at least 3 – 4 years. Mental health is a part of the healthcare field and we often have to navigate managed health care insurance with the needs of our clients. It is also sometimes hard to meet the demand not only because of managed health care issues but because there is a lack of culturally appropriate providers. Being a space that provides services for many people of color the demand is high so we are doing our best to meet it, but other systems are not always on our side.
We’ve been impressed with Meadows Counseling Group, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
In a comfortable and supportive atmosphere, we offer a highly personalized approach tailored to your individual needs to achieve the personal growth for which you are striving. If you are looking for extra support and guidance through a challenging situation or you are ready to move in a different direction in life, we look forward to helping you achieve your goals. We offer both in-person and online services. We also provide speaking engagements on a wide variety of topics such as self-care, mental wellness, COVID and mental health, workplace and mental health, imposter syndrome, how to work with diverse populations, and so much more.
What matters most to you?
People matter. Our goal is really to help people and meet them where they are and together walk the road to insight, growth, and healing.
