Community Highlights: Meet Carly Sioux of House of No Era

Today we’d like to introduce you to Carly Sioux

Hi Carly , we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
No Era was born out of a refusal to conform to the polite, polished aesthetics dominating modern design. It wasn’t a plan so much as an instinct—a culmination of years spent collecting fragments and developing an irreverent taste for objects and art. I started out in photography, stalking urban landscapes and digging into the textures of the cities I lived in.That lens never left my work.

The pivot into interiors happened quietly. One day, a friend mentioned how my studio felt more intentional than their apartment. It clicked: I’d been designing spaces all along, just never for anyone else. From there, I leaned into blending industrial grit with weird glamour, incorporating pieces that carried both history and contradiction.

Today, No Era is more than just a design studio; it’s a mood—a dialogue between the past and future, raw and refined. It’s become a community for those who reject the rules and embrace the unapologetic style, energy, and attitude that defines the experience.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Like any creative endeavor, it’s been full of moments of doubt and unexpected challenges—balancing the tension between staying true to a vision while navigating the demands of the market. Early on, there was resistance to blending high-end design with an edgier, more unconventional spirit. Some people didn’t get it, or thought it was too much, too soon.

There were also the practical hurdles—getting the right pieces, building a team that understood the vibe, and managing the day-to-day operations while trying to stay creative. But these struggles have only sharpened the focus. They’ve pushed us to refine what No Era stands for, to build a community that appreciates the unique blend of sophistication and rebellion, and to never compromise on what feels authentic. The friction has only made the journey more rewarding.

We’ve been impressed with House of No Era, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
No Era is a design studio and creative collective that goes beyond traditional interiors. I design, source, sell, and art direct, offering a full spectrum of services to create environments that stand out. From curating high-end furniture and crafting distinctive spaces to art directing campaigns, photoshoots, and videos, I’m deeply involved in every aspect of the visual narrative. What sets No Era apart is the way we merge design with visual storytelling—each project is an immersive experience, blending aesthetics, culture, and atmosphere in a way that’s both refined and rebellious. It’s not just about furniture; it’s about creating a mood and a moment that feels uniquely yours.

What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I was always a bit of an outsider, drawn to things that felt different or offbeat. I had a natural curiosity, constantly seeking out new ways to see the world—whether through photography, music, or just exploring spaces that others overlooked. I was fascinated by textures, shapes, and the stories things could tell. Personality-wise, I’ve always been independent, a bit restless, and never one to shy away from challenging the norm. I’ve always had an eye for detail and a love for things that felt raw, authentic, and a little unconventional—traits that have definitely carried through into my work today.
