Community Highlights: Meet Beckie Boger of Divine Equines

Today we’d like to introduce you to Beckie Boger.

Hi Beckie, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
The presence of horse energy and wisdom has been on my heart radar since I was a wee little girl. My uncle owned a pony farm for a brief time during my elementary school years and my sister was very consumed with learning about and being with horses for all of our childhood. I think my attraction to horses is also ancestral with a genetic code wired and wound to my body and soul on my maternal grandmother’s side.

The empty void of a divorce that longed to be filled in my mid 30’s led me to respond to a newspaper article about volunteering at a therapeutic riding center which then invited me into my own horse-womanship and spiritual growth journey. When the program’s #1 therapy horse (and my brilliant equine teacher!), Mighty Markus, was retired I was able to purchase him and continue the evolution of our relationship and bond.

During this time, I became trained as an equine professional to help facilitate Equine Assisted Psychotherapy which inspired me to start my own EAP practice, Divine Equines.

After 2 years of offering this mental health model with a therapist, I began to notice my frustration with the lack of spiritual exploration for our client’s emotional wellbeing. So, I paused things for a couple of years while I percolated and pondered how to fill this void with my clients, still in partnership with the horses.

During this sacred pause in my business development, I woke up one morning and knew that I wanted to create a program that offered spiritual direction with horses. My motivation was awareness of and appreciation for a very dear friend in my life who was a trained spiritual director and always listened with me in such a deep way. So, I went back to school and entered a 3-year process of spiritual formation and discernment, and became a spiritual director.

I always experience my deepest connection to the Creator and my true self when I am in nature with horses. I call it “church in the woods/barn/pasture.” So, I re-imagined Divine Equines and re-created my program for spiritual growth and healing that I call Horse-centered Soul Care.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Growth is never a smooth road. I have struggled with my unique identity and worth in this jampacked arena of equine-assisted learning practitioners/programs, technology and marketing, finding my own language to explain and validate this experiential work, and my very messy journey of becoming with my Self and horses.

We’ve been impressed with Divine Equines, LLC, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Divine Equines Horse-centered Soul Care offers compassionate, non-judgmental listening presence for adult survivors of “little” and “big” trauma who struggle with feeling anxious and disconnected in their lives and relationships.

We will help you reclaim the wisdom in your body and soul and repair your relationship wound by spiritually connecting and reflecting with horses in nature so you can feel more calm and centered in your life.

We will provide a safe, sacred space of love and support for you to heal and grow in your spiritual and self-awareness.

Our heart’s desire is to leave your soul better than we found it.

Our nature-based, trauma-informed private sessions and retreats, small group workshops and retreats, monthly meditation and prayer circle, and one-on-one virtual sanctuary Tele-Horse program are inspired by the wisdom of the horse and created with your well-being and healing in mind.

What matters most to you? Why?
Love, compassion, kindness, patience, presence, grace.

Because there is too little of it in this world, and only because I have been on the receiving end of it in my beautiful mess can I can offer it to you in yours.
