Check Out Xanton’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Xanton

Hi Xanton, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’ve always felt that music, especially creating music, has a special place in my heart and elicits a feeling that I cannot describe. My earliest memory of writing music is when I was about 10. While I have nothing but faint memories of the songs written at that time, I still remember how I felt at that moment.

When I was between 14 and 16, I remember a kick-off in wanting to create. So many create “bands” in middle and high school but even with the execution being juvenile some songs that were written during that time stuck with me for over 6 years. The tracks “The Neighborhood” and “Amnesia” from my EP “Reminiscence” are from this time in my life, just reworked and reimagined as the songs grew with me.

When I hit 19 I realized how much I needed music as an outlet. I started writing songs when I was at work, which quickly formed into ideas for projects. My first EP “Reminiscence” was released in April of 2022 and it opened what felt like a floodgate of possibilities.

The next major release was the album “Exile” in July of 2024, but the idea for this project was schemed up years prior. Even before “Reminiscence” was released I had the first blueprints of “Exile” working. After an almost 2 year break in releasing music from 2022 to 2024, I had lived with the album enough to put a sentence to the end of the thought that birthed the album.

I just released my latest song, “Sorry,” and am working on multiple other projects that I can’t wait to release. My first performance at an open mic is coming up soon, and I am incredibly excited to continue creating and sharing these words.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Creative roadblocks are a major struggle when creating. I always feel bottled up when I can’t get the words out that I feel I need to. Taking breaks is important, and it has allowed some of my favorite songs I have created to come to life in the form that they needed to.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am an independent artist in Cleveland, Ohio. I am originally from Lexington, Kentucky and just moved to this city in November of 2024. I lyrically write, record, and mix all my own tracks in-house, allowing me to produce the track to match how I heard it in my mind when it was first written. I pour my heart into my songs, writing is how I work through a lot of my thoughts; it feels like the most natural way to decompress.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Even when I was a kid I have always felt that music made me feel in a way that is hard to put into words. Different types of music bring about a unique physiological feeling, almost like my body is riding on a rollercoaster full of highs and lows as it moves through a series of songs. I started going to concerts when I was young with my family and it made me realize how much I loved live music.
