Check Out Tara Mitchell’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tara Mitchell.

Hi Tara, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
EndoQueenCrafts is a women-owned and operated business established in 2021. My business name comes from me suffering with endometriosis, then my love for arts and crafts. I’ve always had a passion for anything art related. Even as a kid, I would have a bag full of different things anywhere I went. In 2017 my endometriosis symptoms started up very intensely and just gradually increased over time making it impossible to physically work a “normal” 8-hour shift. The times I was in the hospital I would try to craft because if I was able to its honestly the only thing that helped me mentally get the strength to start feeling better than I realized why not make something I enjoy doing into my job? I thought it would be fun to share my art and other creations with people around the world.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It’s not always a smooth easy road, sometimes there are potholes and detours but working and pushing through them obstacles always pays off in the end. Trying to get events together, build customer base, and keep pushing out inventory. I have learned that no event is a bad event, meaning you can always make any event that you are at that might be going bad and make a couple changes to things to make sales go up. It’s fun having to be very flexible with my business. The easiest part about everything is the crafting and then process behind the craft. Actually, getting out there and experiencing everything this business has to offer me with high energy and fun times is very exciting and great learning curve.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I would like people to know everything is handmade /self-designed myself. I make beaded, crystal, wire-wrapped, uv & clay jewelry along with other accessories like hair charms/clips and brooches. Some other items I create are stickers, magnets, beaded wand clips, paintings/drawings, stitch markers for those who crochet along with some crocheted water bottle holders, lanyards, bowls, rugs, and blankets. Bookmarkers, croc accessories, and more! I’m willing to give anything a shot. I accept custom orders also so let me know anything you’re envisioning and let’s bring it to life together! A piece of my work I’m most proud of would have to be my glass decor, mainly the nightlights and 12”x12” clock I created. Currently, I’m working on some mushroom-themed items as this will be my first year participating in the Game of Shrooms. It’s basically an art & seek event where artist go out, and hind mushroom themed art in sight on June 10th for others to find and keep on June 11th (for more information on the game, you can visit Instagram: @gameofshroomsofficial or @endoqueencrafts for sneak peeks at where my art will be!)

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
The most important lesson I’ve learned along my journey is not to rush any project & to be your own biggest supporter. Don’t always get let down on the little things, it always has its way of planning out. I always stay patient and calm during high selling times or if I don’t think I will make a deadline, I just keep a good mindset and that always helps me through. Like I have said before owning a business is high energy and can be a headache, but if it’s something you love doing and cherish, then there is nothing that can stand in the way of your passion and dream. I am trying to make my hobby become something bigger and I am loving it every step of the way.
