Today we’d like to introduce you to Tanesha McClellan
Hi Tanesha, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started my journey to entrepreneurship when I quit my job in 2017. I didn’t like the hours because it took from my family and I wanted to be there for my children as much as I could. I started out doing different types of small jobs but after a while the ones I got more frequent and was really good at was organizing and cleaning jobs. I created my LLC for my company TD Helping Hand services, Helping Hands for short less than a year from quitting. From there I started and working on my business. At first, for a few years I was ok with just making enough and having a schedule that afforded me to be there whenever my children needed. In 2023, I was informed about the MWBE program to become certified in my city. after about a year I became certified in 2024 and currently working on expanding my business.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No the road has not been smooth. I didn’t know much about entrepreneurship and didn’t know what to expect. There were periods of times where cash flow and the amount of clients were amazing. Also, times where the flow of everything is at a standstill.
Another thing I didn’t know too much about was the importance of bookkeeping. I have learned to how to create invoices and organize my paperwork because of not having an assistant.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am self employed. I created a multi-service business. My company specializes in cleaning (residential and commercial), organizing and personal assistant services.
I am known for my attention to detail, my personable interactions, and overall communication and work.
I am proud that I am setting a pathway to encourage my children to go after their dreams and go after what they want.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
On this road, I have had many supporters. Of course family members, especially my babies and close friends. I want to shout out one in particular who recommended me for this interview, Krista Bryant. We are both on our entrepreneurship journey and when we can we encourage one another.
Ive had clients who were in certain professions that actually gave me good advice. One client in particular, Alex Hunt, who informed me about the MWBE certification and encouraged/helped me during the process.
