Check Out Sophia Blasi’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sophia Blasi.

Sophia, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Urban Luxe was founded in early 2020 just before the pandemic. I started it because I always knew I wanted to do something creative and take it to the next level in some way or another. When I was in high school my good friend and I put on pop-up shops in my living room for our high school friends with thrifted items we found and wanted to style.

After doing that a couple of successful times I realized, I could do this for a living in some way shape, or form, and also that I loved doing stuff like that but wanted more out of it. I took the $500 ish dollars I had made from those pop-up shops and bootstrapped my way up. It started slow but quickly took a turn. We now generate over 6 figures in sales and are consistently growing on social media and building up our clientele across the country.

I am currently a senior in college at Miami University in Ohio studying fashion entrepreneurship and will have started this whole company while attaining a bachelor’s degree. As soon as I am out of school, I plan to hit the ground running even more than I already have.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It’s been fairly smooth. The beginning was slow, didn’t know what I was doing exactly. Took time to figure out the logistics, what was the best move, and how to go about doing things. Juggling college on top of daily business operations was always a struggle.

Growing up in a small town was also a struggle ( I was born and raised in Oxford, Ohio) sometimes small towns lack inspiration, especially in the fashion industry, so I always made it a priority to take travel seriously and do some inspirational trips for that exact purpose.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I was always pretty creative as a person. Before I started Urban Luxe I was involved in a bunch of different fashion orgs on my campus. I would do wardrobe styling for editorial, and digital wardrobe styling for social media prints, I blogged a little bit about fashion trends and observations, and I also modeled a little bit for our fashion organization.

Now, owning Urban Luxe I am in charge of the creative direction of the company, the buying and merchandising processes, social media strategies, and marketing as a whole. For now, I am the photographer of most eCommerce shots and social media shots. I think I am most proud of how I have branded Urban Luxe.

I don’t want it to just be another boutique in a small town or just something that offers to clothe. I want it to be a well-known brand, something that sticks out to people, and something that offers more than just a fun piece of clothing, I want to build relationships with clients and network with more creative people that are consistently looking to better themselves as a person as well as their wardrobe.

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
I have had anxiety my entire life. On a day-to-day basis, there is probably something that is making me anxious. I use urban as a creative outlet to help with my anxiety and it works. But, there are very situational moments when my anxiety takes over and I need to step back and take a nap or go for a walk because it disrupts my daily life activities.
