Today we’d like to introduce you to Selina Jackson.
Selina, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I brainstormed on the idea of a coffee page during Covid because I really like coffee shops and wanted to explore the city of Columbus since I’m not from here. I noticed there wasn’t a coffee-specific instagram page, just more general food blogging pages for Columbus. So once the covid restrictions started lifting I decided to start a coffee page to document shops in the city for people, and myself, to explore and keep record of.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I would say it’s been a very smooth and fun road for me because I find joy in all the twists and turns of being a creative. It’s a hobby for me so anything that comes with it is fine with me as I have no expectations. I’m learning and growing from all the knowledge I’ve gained and connections I’ve made. It’s also about your mindset. I’m all about going with the flow here and making everything a positive when it comes to this specifically
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a special education teacher and also received a Master’s degree in Autism Spectrum Disorders. I am currently teaching kindergarten special needs but have also taught middle and high school as well. I’m most proud of my perseverance, patience, kindness, devotion and empathy when it comes to working with my kids. God has given me the gift of carrying these characteristics and even strengthening them along the way no matter how hard or grueling things can get as an educator. I know education is known for being a burnout field but I am so passionate about my role and my students. I find purpose in anything I do and find a way to look at the bigger picture for the greater good. I have been gifted much wisdom.
What matters most to you? Why?
What matters to me most is God and serving others.
