Today we’d like to introduce you to Sedona Neumann
Hi Sedona, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
As a dedicated stay-at-home mom for many years, I know firsthand how parents can sometimes feel cooped up at home, yearning for a fun outing with their kids and other adults! I was always looking for that “perfect” spot to take my children that was a great balance of something they would be interested in as well as for me. About a year ago, I looked at my husband and said “I want to open a play-cafe, a place not only for children but for parents/caregivers too” and he was 100% on board from there. I couldn’t do any of this without the support of my amazing husband, children, and family. With a ton of hard-work we are finally ready to open Little Lemons Play Cafe this June 2025!
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
“There is no smooth road into the future: but we go around, or scramble over the obstacles.” – D.H. Lawrence
Of course, with any dream or project there are always obstacles to face but for my vision to come to life there wasn’t anything I wasn’t willing to overcome. We were set back in several stages of construction of Little Lemons Play Cafe but sometimes you just have to adjust your expectations or pivot your ideas into new ones.
Many times, I found myself trying to please every single idea someone would send my way for the play cafe and while I loved all the ideas and support eventually I had to take a step back and pin point exactly what I knew Little Lemons Play Cafe needed. At the end of the day, I had to be happy with what I created for others and myself!
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Since I was little, I have always loved being creative and using a touch of imagination in anything I would do. I think that is why I believe Little Lemons Play Cafe can make such a big difference for our community.
When I came up with the idea, I knew I wanted it to be a place where parents/caregivers walked into the cafe and instantly felt at ease inside the environment. With the beautiful hand crafted coffees and teas, to the delicious, made with love pastry and bakery items. When the children walk into the play area, I wanted their imagination to flourish and take on a mind of it’s own! With something for almost every age range including children under one, I created a small “town” of almost life size play houses of real-life jobs/activities that helps kids let their imagination run wild. With events happening at the play cafe every month there is always something to help others be creative in their own way as well!
Truly, the best part about creating this space so far has been sharing it with others!
What are your plans for the future?
I am looking forward to opening Little Lemons Play Cafe to the community! Once we are open we will have events at least once a month to engage the community. The goal of Little Lemons Play Cafe is to create a safe place for parents/givers to meet new people and create a place you can go anytime you need! The constant change of events for not only children but private events also for just parents/caregivers could be such a great outlet for said parents/caregivers. Parents/caregivers often need an outlet for themselves as well and that is why Little Lemons Play Cafe hopefully stands apart to create that space for all who come to visit. I cannot wait to see the community we create with this special spot!
