Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah White
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My name is Sarah White, I am 26 years old, from Grand Rapids, MI, and my dream is to play on the LPGA Tour. I have been chasing that dream everyday since my brother got me into my first lesson at five years old.
I turned Pro in January of 2020. Within my first five events I had one top 20, two top five’s and a win on my first Symetra (Now called the Epson Tour) event from a sponsor’s exemption. That win gave me full status on the now Epson Tour, I finished out the 2020 season with classification “B” status and have kept my card since. I am the longest off the tee on the Epson Tour and on LPGA. I LOVE to workout and hangout with my dogs.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No great story has a smooth road. After my win I was thrown into the fire of what “tour” life is/ was. I had a lot of ups and down in my game but I have found a lot of friends along the way that help make it better
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Professional golf is not like other professional sports. You don’t get anything paid for. You have to pay to play in events, pay for all your travel, pay for your accommodations, food, and your caddy. If you don’t make the cut you don’t get a paycheck.
Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
Best advice I have is to make golf fun. Practice on the course and make it a game. Hours on the range can only get you so far. Go play around and carry your own bag
