Today we’d like to introduce you to Sangeeta Teegala.
Sangeeta, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
In November 2023, I officially launched my Bollywood dance classes and adults zumba sessions and name of the studio, San’s Dance Vibes. Dance has always been a deep passion of mine, and over the years, I found immense joy in teaching, choreographing, and sharing my love for Bollywood dance with others. What started as small community sessions soon grew into something more meaningful, as I realized how much happiness and connection dance could bring to people of all ages and backgrounds.
Building San’s Dance Vibes has been a journey of dedication, creativity, and heart. I focused on creating an inclusive and vibrant space where students not only learn dance steps but also build confidence, celebrate culture, and enjoy the magic of movement. With consistent support from my students, families, and the community, my studio has steadily grown, offering group classes, private lessons, and performances at cultural events.
Dance has always been a part of who I am—whether it was choreographing in school, performing in college, or bringing joy to others through movement. After moving to the U.S., I began casually teaching a few kids, and before I knew it, my passion grew into something more.
That’s how San’s Dance Vibes was born—a space to spread joy through Bollywood dance, whether it’s high-energy Zumba sessions, graceful performances, or teaching kids and adults to find confidence through rhythm.
One very special part of this journey is my daughter. She’s an incredible dancer herself—always ready to lend a hand, suggest creative ideas, and support every class and event. Her energy and enthusiasm inspire me daily.
Together, we’re building a dance family filled with positivity, culture, and connection.
Today, I’m proud of the community we’ve built — a place where passion for Bollywood dance continues to inspire and uplift everyone who walks through our doors. This is just the beginning, and I’m excited for all the chapters yet to come.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The journey has been incredibly rewarding, but it hasn’t always been smooth. Starting a Bollywood dance studio from scratch came with its own set of challenges. In the beginning, it was tough to build visibility and trust, especially in a new market where not everyone was familiar with Bollywood dance. Finding the right studio space, managing schedules, and balancing my passion with the business side of things took a lot of learning and adjustment.
There were moments when class sizes were small, or when unexpected hurdles like venue issues or scheduling conflicts made things stressful. I also faced the challenge of balancing my personal and professional life, especially while growing a brand-new studio.
However, every challenge taught me something valuable. The support of my students, their families, and the love for dance kept me going. Over time, consistency, passion, and community-building helped me overcome those early struggles, and today I’m proud of how far we’ve come.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Along with running my Bollywood dance studio, I work full-time at Progressive Insurance, where I’ve been part of the IT organization for over six years. I currently serve as an Agile Delivery Owner (ADO) and Lean Ambassador, roles that focus heavily on leadership, collaboration, and continuous improvement. I work closely with teams and leadership to deliver value efficiently, foster a culture of agility, and support organizational growth. Leadership is at the heart of what I do — inspiring others, driving results, and helping teams succeed is something I genuinely enjoy.
In addition to my IT role, I am an active Toastmasters member at Progressive, participating in both the Progressive Messengers Club and the Advanced Toastmasters Club. Toastmasters has helped me refine my communication and leadership skills even further, which has positively impacted both my corporate and personal passions.
In my dance studio, San’s Dance Vibes, I specialize in teaching Bollywood dance to kids and adults, creating a welcoming environment where everyone feels confident, energized, and connected to the joy of movement. I’m most proud of the community I’ve built — a place where people celebrate culture, build confidence, and simply have fun.
What sets me apart is my strong foundation in leadership, my passion for uplifting others, and my ability to blend creativity with discipline, whether it’s in the boardroom or the dance studio. I believe that when you lead with heart and consistency, success naturally follows.
How do you define success?
For me, success is about growth, impact, and fulfillment. It’s not just about reaching a goal or hitting a milestone — it’s about how much I grow along the way, how positively I impact others, and how fulfilled I feel in what I’m doing.
In my corporate career, success means leading with integrity, helping teams thrive, and contributing to a bigger vision. In my dance journey, success is seeing students light up with confidence, watching our community grow, and knowing that I’m creating a space where culture and joy are celebrated.
Ultimately, I believe true success is when your passion, purpose, and impact all align — and you wake up every day excited to keep going.
