Today we’d like to introduce you to Rebecca Macke.
Hi Rebecca, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
In January 2021 during the Covid pandemic, people seemed to be depressed. It was an uncertain and emotional time. I wanted to do something for my neighbors to lift their spirits. I made them hot chocolate bombs and dropped them off on their front porches. The next day, one of my neighbors contacted me wanting to buy more. Another neighbor had given my name to many of their friends. Another neighbor asked me if I made anything else besides hot chocolate bombs. And from that day forward, Granville Goodies became a thriving small business in the community…
From birthdays to anniversaries, weddings, baby showers, graduations, I’m honored that customers request me to make treats for some of the most important days of their lives. It’s an indescribable wonderful feeling to know that I have contributed to these memorable celebrations.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Having a 4-year-old and a 2-year-old, I certainly wasn’t prepared for how busy my new business would become. Although at times it’s been a juggling game, I feel so fortunate for the success and very thankful for how supportive my community has been.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I make a variety of goodies ranging from cakes to cookies, cupcakes, hot chocolate bombs, chocolate treats, pies and tarts, I feature a spread of these different desserts each holiday for purchase. My goodies are custom created for that particular recipient.
Someone once asked me how long I’ve been a baker. I told them I’m not a baker, I’m an artist. I guess I just chose this as the medium that I work with.
How can people work with you, collaborate with you, or support you?
I’m always open to collaborative projects! I love seeing others succeed.
