Check Out Mikalah Day’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mikalah Day

Hi Mikalah, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My journey in childcare began from a very personal place—I became a parent in high school, which gave me firsthand insight into the challenges and joys of raising a child. This experience fueled my passion for supporting young children and their families, ultimately leading me to open my Early Learning Childhood Center, where I’ve been working for the past seven years. From the start, I believed deeply in the importance of early childhood education and wanted to create a nurturing environment where children could grow, learn, and feel valued. Through dedication and hard work, I’ve built a place where children can thrive, and parents can trust in the quality of care and educational resources we provide. Over time, my role has evolved beyond just childcare, allowing me to combine my knowledge and values to positively impact the community around me.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The journey hasn’t been easy; there have been countless challenges along the way. Balancing the demands of being a young parent, building a childcare center from the ground up, and managing all the responsibilities that come with it often tested my resilience. There were times when resources were tight and the path forward seemed uncertain, but my commitment to creating a positive impact for children and families kept me going. Each obstacle taught me valuable lessons, shaping me into the dedicated caregiver and educator I am today.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am the owner of an Early Learning Childhood Center, where I’ve dedicated myself to creating a nurturing and educational environment for young children. I oversee daily operations, ensuring that each child receives quality care and engaging learning experiences that support their development. My role involves cooking fresh meals daily, designing curricula, and building partnerships with organizations to provide valuable resources for families, such as healthy meal programs and educational workshops. I’m also an advocate for childhood education in my community, working to inspire both children and parents. My work is about more than just childcare—it’s about empowering children to thrive and making a lasting impact on their lives and the community.

I’m known for my dedication to early childhood education, but also for balancing many roles—as a wife, a mother, and a committed leader within my church. People recognize me for creating a safe, nurturing space for children to learn and grow, while also working to support families by providing valuable resources and education. My community knows me not only for the work I do with children but also for my faith and involvement in ministry, where I serve and help guide others. Balancing family, faith, and my passion for early education is at the heart of who I am and what I strive to bring to my community every day.

I’m incredibly proud of the work I do, knowing that I’m making a difference in the lives of children and their families every day. It brings me so much joy to see children thrive in a safe, supportive environment where they can learn and grow. I’m also proud of the relationships I’ve built through this journey, whether it’s with families, my church community, or partners who share my vision for empowering and uplifting young minds.

How do you think about luck?
I don’t believe in luck. God has truly blessed me in so many ways and I’m thankful for every open door and every closed one.
