Today we’d like to introduce you to Lindsay Ronneberg
Hi Lindsay, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I was born and raised in a small town in Ohio, and I came to Columbus 20+ years ago to attend The Ohio State University.
Growing up, eating out at a fancy meal was always at a chain restaurant. Think Olive Garden or Red Lobster.
Once I moved to Columbus I started branching out from chain restaurants and diving into ethnic foods and local restaurants.
I’ve always been very aware of the new restaurant openings and very supportive of all of my fellow food bloggers so I dove head first into featuring food on my Instagram page because it’s something that I’ve been passionate about.
For so many years, I was always the person that my friends were texting and asking, “Hey we’re going to this part of town, where should we go to eat?”
Sharing my love of food and favorite restaurants with friends is what this is truly about.
I thrive in big cities, but love how Columbus still feels so family friendly and approachable. I want my kids to experience different cuisines and be adventurous eaters so we’ve really tried to instill that in them.
I hope that by sharing my love of food at local eateries that it’s giving back to my community, by also showing my love of Columbus and how great of a city it is.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I have felt very fortunate that the food blogger community in Columbus have been so welcoming and they’re really some of the friendliest people. I’ve made so many new friends along the way and it’s been nothing but a positive experience for me.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
My love of food really grew from an appreciation of visiting big cities and doing the research to seek out the best restaurants, and also, speaking with chefs in the city. I feel like having those meaningful conversations with the chefs that are feeding me, and always staying in tune to new restaurants is helpful to my community, by giving back and supporting them. I love to recommend places for people to try, while building up small businesses.
As a content creator, who is local to Columbus, it really makes me happy being out in the community and meeting people who follow me on my journey on Instagram. Whether I’m back in my hometown and hearing people tell me how they love seeing all of the new restaurants that I’ve introduced them to, or sitting up at a bar during happy hour and having some appetizers with a drink and meeting the people beside me, it’s so nice having conversations with people about food because we all have it in common. We have to eat to survive. I’m just happy to showcase local places in Columbus, Ohio.
What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I remember spending a lot of time outdoors. I’ve always been social and an extrovert. I was always riding bikes around my neighborhood and playing sports with friends.
One of my favorite memories as a child is visiting Cincinnati and going to Cincinnati Reds baseball games with my parents and sister. We always got to go to Montgomery Inn to eat ribs before the baseball games and that seemed so fancy to me, even though we were always in our casual sports attire. Food has always been a core memory for me.
