Check Out James Milbry’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to James Milbry.

Hi James, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
As far as I can remember I’ve always loved the idea of capturing images. The first camera I ever owned was from a cologne gift set I got for Christmas. It was the standard 35mm point-and-shoot camera that took the film. Once I got to high school, I took a photography class, but I could not pass the course. When I graduated my mom gave me a nice Canon camera, I can’t remember the model, but I had that camera maybe a month or so then someone stole it. Fast forward to adulthood, and Voila’ I decided to get into photography. I actually wanted the camera to get into videography, I did that for a while, but I slowly got back into photography. I started with street photography then, onto red carpet events and eventually fashion photography.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I can’t say that it was a smooth road, but I can say that my first time shooting at a red-carpet event BET Weekend 2015 to be exact- I was able to get 9 photos published. There are many challenges as a photographer/creative; you may have a vision but can’t find the muse/model that will fit that need.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I capture images, I can’t say that I specialize in one thing, but I would say that I love fashion photography from high-end to editorial photography. I would have to let my customers be the judge of what sets me apart or what I am known for- at best I am known to have a good time when I am shooting.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
I am from California but living here in Columbus, OH I would have to say the pride people have here for Columbus, what like least about this city- the lack of support for photographers.
