Check Out Erin Chambers’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Erin Chambers.

Erin, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Art has always been a huge part of my life. At a very young age, my mother and grandmother started taking me to art museums and exhibits. They both studied art history in college and always made a point to incorporate art into my upbringing. When I asked for art supplies growing up, my family was always quick to get me what I wanted.

I never had the confidence to pursue a career in art until I got my first tattoo. I had a wonderful experience and quickly fell in love with the history of traditional American tattooing. From that point on, I taught myself how to paint tattoo flash and eventually got a tattoo apprenticeship. I have now been tattooing for just about a year and am very lucky to have become the full-time artist I had dreamt of being!

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Getting started in the industry is not easy. There were months at the beginning of my apprenticeship where I made no money and needed to have a part-time job along with my full-time apprenticeship. That, along with building clientele, making a name for yourself, and meeting expectations is definitely stressful.

I think ultimately every artist’s biggest obstacle is themselves. We’re our own worst critics. It important in this industry to surrounded yourself with supportive people that lift you up and I am very grateful to have found that.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am currently a tattoo apprentice! I specialize in blackwork / muted color traditional tattooing. Being so new to the industry, I wouldn’t say I’m known for much just yet, but eventually, I’d love to be known for the comfortable experience I give to my clients.

Alright, so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
I am @chamberstattoos on Instagram. A follow on social media is a great way to support your favorite artists!
